Heres an experiment for everyone that loves global warming. This will prepare you for the coming arctic melt.

Experiment 1:

required equipment

1 glass
Ice to fill the glass
Water

Fill a glass full of ice. Fill the space remaining in the glass with water. Wait until the ice melts completely.

If the water starts to overflow from the glass during the melting process then proceed to experiment 2: Building the Ark

now im anti all this global warming stuff but....

this "experiment" shows that if the north pole melts, the sea level will no rise AT ALL..... However what about the greenland icecover, antarctica and all the perma frost? This is where the sea level changes come from.

Yeah right so Greenland will just pass off all the ice into water and then it magically ALL fills the ocean to overflowing without any water being retained? Greenland ONLY is going to melt and the arctic regions ice will stay frozen? Your living in fantasy land. Even if all the ice in the world melted the ocean levels would not rise one inch.

Hmmm... It seems to be a well tested fantasy.

Obviously floating ice won't raise sea level if it melts. It's reasonable to expect that land ice melting and flowing into the sea will add to the volume of water there and raise the level (assuming the land wasn't floating). Since we've all heard Angus and others proclaiming the north's rapidly melting ice how much has it increased sea level over the last 20 - 30 years?

Actually if you believe the published figures, which I don't have handy nor could I be bothered looking for them, yes.
I'm sure someone else will post them up soon enough.

Dang, I keep making a mess. I fill my water glass to the top and then carefully slid an ice cube in and it overflows  :furious

I guess he never observed what happens in the spring when the winter snow melts.

The other thing to note is the Ice shelves off the coast of Antarctica and Greenland are largely supported by the land they grow from.
Only a small fraction of their weight is borne by the water underneath. When these shelves break apart that mass is added to the water in the ocean and the volume and overall sea level increases accordingly.

I ask again in case anyone is privy to the facts, with all the ice that's been melting recently, how much has sea level been raised?

Ok it is if all the ice melted.

Using the ice volume figures from above it is straightforward to estimate the effect on sea level were all this ice melted. Melting the 29,300,000 km3 of grounded ice would produce 26,100,000 km3 of water. Note that melting of floating ice has no effect on sea level. Also, about 2,100,000 km3 of the grounded ice in Antarctica is below sea level [19] and would be replaced by water. Thus, the net addition to the world's oceans would be about 24,000,000 km3 of water spread over the 361,000,000 km2 area of the world's oceans, giving a depth of 67 meters. The new ocean area would be slightly larger, of course, since some areas now land would be covered with water. The final result would be around 66 meters (current estimates range between 63 and 75 meters).

About an inch in last ten years. If measured acceleration is taken into account, it is projected to rise about a foot until 2100. That is, if nothing changes.

Above is for the mean sea level. It varies locally.
