Put language filter closer to listeners

I posted this on the General Forum, but it might get lost, so I'll post here too:

I think the profanity filters are too far "upstream".   To keep most people happy, I strongly suggest placing the filter closer to the listener's end. I.e. place it on the FE for incoming messages (rather than the host).

If someone doesn't want to hear profanity, they can activate the filter, and it mutes INCOMING messages, rather than the host filtering transmissions and smacking the speakers.

Further, because different users feel different words are more or less profane than others, it would be better if a keyword list be kept on the FE's rather than the host.  This way, the "Damned Flaming-Ass" squad could fly and talk to each other without getting muted: they just delete "damned" and "ass" out of their lists (or just deactivate the filter altogether).

This is the best of both worlds: people can say what they want (they don't really care if anyone is listening); and those with senstive ears hear what they want.

You think it will effect frame rate?

Not only that, don't the "easily offended" have to edit the offending words, and make themselves faint at the sight of them????

The same hypocrisy used by networks like Ted Turner, who take it upon themselves to edit "strong language" movies down to 1950s "gee whiz" standards (when what they ought to do is not run them, and just show G-rated Disney movies). What happens to that poor soul, the censor who "gets to" hear all the bad words, and "gets to" censor all the bad scenes????

No mino.. it wouldn't affect frame rate.  It is an invisible routine.

Its been done many times before.

A censor is probably an adult or has his parents consent. He must have had  his job description before he accepted it. So he expected to deal with profanity.
Most of us did not expect more profanity in the on-line fligh sim with no age restrictions then we would expect in  a restaurant with no age restrictions.
What's wrong with swearing aloud and not typing the stuff in? It's not like anyone ever complained about being not sworn at enough - "I vulched this guy repeatedly and did not hear a single f#@k from him! I am quitting!"
