Settle This Once and for All: NOE Alt
« on: August 25, 2008, 01:22:05 AM »

When flying NOE, at what alt (appx) does an aircraft show a dar-bar and when does it show up on enemy radar (in the dar-ring).

I'm vouching for 200ft, I've done the experimenting with squaddies and it appears to us that it is 200ft.  We go by the 200ft when we run NOE missions and we dont seem to create a dar-bar.

Many will chime in on a mission and declare it to be 500ft.  I make mention of the dar bar and they shrug it off to another allied plane outside of our misison even though we're far outside normal operating sectors on teh edge of the map.

Anyone???

Lyric1 and I went to an enemy field in Temps at 450 feet. No dar bar.

I think below 200 feet the icon is below the plane instead of above.

From the mouth of Dale himself, 500ft.  You will still trip the flashing base icon when you break the radar ring (whether dar is up or down.)

it's how low you can effectively do it upside down. Sol74 showed that one too me. POTW found that flipping ur aircraft upside down will give you a no darbar NOE ceiling up to 500ft. On long flights over 2 sectors it is a bit nausea inducing tho. :aok

Interesting.  I'll try the upside down thing to see if it works for me.   ;)

500ft you say?  If the masses say it is 500ft... then let it be 500ft.  When my squaddies and I tested this there in fact must have been another allied pilot up in the sky triggering our sectors dar-bar a we crept above 200ft.

Once your inverted, keep her at full power and kick full rudder.  If you fly 'er sideways you've got to at least 1000' before you break dar. :aok

Any other tips Billy?  :rofl

It's 500.

More specifically, it's an arena setting, and can be changed.  I believe the MA's are set to 500.  If you are leading a flight, tell everyone 200 though, and you stand a better chance of not triggering DAR. ;)

It's 500' for both dar bar and dot dar.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Well, it stands to reason if you never fly over 200 feet, you'd never trip the radar since the altitude it sees you is 500 feet.  Pretty unbelieveable there...

Duh, that's because it is   :huh

500ft above ground level is the threshold for both dot and bar dar

I'm surprised at you all! Giving out false information to someone who wants the truth. How dare you all!!

It's 500ft Above ground Level  :D

Murdr is the only one not to give out false info (maybe because he's a trainer and it's kind of against his job to do so)  ;) :salute
