Campaign Series: N. Africa has started in the AvA
« on: August 26, 2008, 01:12:48 PM »

Ok guys the first week of Campaign Series:N. Africa has started!  Many thanks to Soda72 for getting the arena all set, Oldman for trying to help  :) and to all the staffers for their help, input and support. <S>

The map has been laid out per this thread, with each base assigned a victory point level.

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,245037.0.html

After three weeks each side will gain points for bases captured, per that map.  Most points wins.

The plane set is as follows, the number following each plane is its "rarity" factor.  It is basically the percentage of bases that will have that plane.  1.0 planes are at all bases.  Rare planes have been assigned a base by each respective side CO.  This plane set will change at both the start of the second and third week ( I will get those plane sets out soon).  Rare planes will become more common and common planes will become rare as they are outdated.  Also new planes will be introduced for the N. African theater.

Allied:
   Hurri Mk I       1.0
   P40-E            1.0
   Hurri Mk IID    0.2
   Spit Vb            0.1
   Boston Mk III  0.3
   C-47              1.0
   Jeep              1.0
   M-8               1.0
   M-3               1.0

Axis:
   C202             1.0
   Bf109e-4        1.0
   Bf109f-4         0.1
   Bf110c-4        0.2
   Ju87d            1.0
   Ju-88a-4        0.3
   C-47              1.0
   Jeep              1.0
   M-8               1.0
   Sdkfz251        1.0

Base Capture is set at 50 troops.

Hardness Changes from AvA normal settings:

Radar = 2k
Ammo, fuel, barracks = 1k
FH/BH = 3k
VH = 1k

Down times are set at 30 minutes.  But each side CO has supplied the location of 3 supply depots, for each supply depot lost downtimes for Ammo, fuel and barracks will be increased by 5 minutes at the start of each week.  Conversely for each one captured that sides downtime will decrease by 5 minutes.  The supply depot location is hidden and shared per the CO's discretion.

Radar should be full to allow for finding the fight.

Icon range is AvA standard.

Also I added wind to give the buff pilots a challenge, along with the standard AvA bombsight.  :)

30 minute wait to change sides.

There are private side forums (Axis or Allied) if you wish to join.  If you do join a forum you are committing to playing that side solely.  If you wish to change sides please don't join a forum.  Request to join the forums can be found in the AvA forum.

I think that is pretty much it.  Please check it out and let me know what you think.  I am open to constructive criticism and willing to make changes if it helps insure a good balance, increase playability or increase the "fun" factor.

Enjoy! <S>

This is the only part I still don't understand bug.  It sounds like someone edited the map based on CO choices, is that right?  What do these supply depots look like?

CO gave both the bases for the rare planes and the imaginary supply depots.  For example the 110c has a rarity of .2, with the Axis starting with 14 airbases that is 3 airbases(rounded up) that can have the 110c.  The Axis CO decides what those three bases are and has been incorporated into the setup.

As for the supply depots they are just bases with a +3 victory point level that has been picked by the CO to represent a supply depot.  They do not exist in-game and are just tied to the capture of the base at the end of this week.

I had planned on using strats to implement this, but on the Tunisia map the strat locations would have favored the Axis.  <S>

I'll probably give it a try and maybe jump in there tonight if there are good numbers. How is the side balancing working? Do you have to pick a side and stay on it, or can you switch sides to help even the numbers? I actually prefer the 109's but I also love the early war Allies planes like the P40's & Spit 1's.

Strafing,

As long as you are not currently a member of the side private forums, you are free to switch sides as you see fit.

I think they mentioned that there's a 30 minute timer for switching sides.  There are also private forums for each side, and if you sign up for one of them, you are expected to stay with that side for the duration.

Great night last night, front lines remained intact though.  If you get a chance please pop into the AvA some night and take a look at the setup.  I am looking for likes/dislikes in the AvA forum, as we strive to build a historical arena player base.  <S>
