The only good Galactica news would have been it turning out the last five years had just been a practical joke, and now they're doing the proper continuation of the original series (wiping out G80) the fans wanted and campaigned for in the FIRST place. :p
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

The more important the show to me, the more likely I am to TIVO it and watch it later. Had no idea that doing that skews Nielsen ratings  (Important, to ME, being defined as Lost, 24, House :aok)

I watched the orginal series when I was a kid and I think this latest series has been pretty damn good. So I have no clue what fans you are talking about.  ;)

as for the article.. yea I used my DVR to record it and watched it later quite often.

Same here - I'm a huge fan, but don't think I ever watched an episode as it aired. Other things to do on a Friday night.

The fact is I almost never watch 'live' TV. The endless commercials make sure of that. That's something the TV companies are going to have to get to grips with because the advertising revenue from major shows is going to dry up as the advertisers refuse to pay when they know we all just skip past them anyway.

How long until we see the cable companies issuing DVR's that prevent you skipping commercials?

Who cares?

In NZ we have Sky TV. They have a monopoly on paid tv here. The satellite feeds have been less than SD (think VCD quality), they are just adding HD because the state broadcasters gone HD already. They're slow to show new shows. When I signed up 10 years ago there were no ads, thats what you sub paid for, now the channels are slowly getting riddled with ads.

So now I have an HTPC, and a nice fast internet connection. I get my tv when I want it, in HD format.  IMHO TV is going through its 'mp3 revolution' right now.

It's the same here in Oz.
When I first subscribed to Foxtel, you paid for the lack of ads. That was the big selling point.
NO ADS!!111!one!eleventyone!
Now it's pretty much degenerated to hyper repetitive TV with the regular ad content.
Yeah you got a chitload more channels, and there is some better content, but by and larger it's the same crap with the same mind numbing drivel in between.
We pretty much only keep it now for the History Channel. N.G. and Discovery, and the Kids entertainment channels. Every now and then we'll get a movie from Box Office.

You hit it right Sax, continue the original.
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Even though I though BSG TOS was great, especially for its time, it wouldn't have made it past a few episode before getting canceled...
There are not enough BSG TOS fans around to keep a show like that going..  Richard Hatch really tried to make a continuation series for the orginal BSG, becoming virtually bankrupt in the process due to being the sole financial backer of some shots that were only seen at a sci-fi convention because ABC, NBC, and CBS wanting nothing to do with it..  However,  Ron Moore did a GREAT job with the re-imagining, IMHO...

As far as having the "proper continuation" of BSG TOS, a great majority of fans who campaigned for a continuation of the original actual became quite pleased with the re-imagined series...  A continuation of the original would never work except for those hardcore fans (which unfortunately are too few)..

For those of you who are adamant about hating the re-imagined series, I feel sorry for you, seriously...  You allowed your "fanboi-ism" to get the best of you....  Lots of people said the same thing about Star Trek TNG, and look what happened..  It ran for 7 years (as all Trek series did except for TOS and Enterprise) with good ratings and eventually bringing along all the haters that were also adamant about watching it..
Ron Moore's BSG is something you must watch from the mini-series all the way to the last episode....  You can't jump in the middle of it and have a clue what's going on...  Those of you who have tried to watch, it does you no justice just to tune in and watch any episode because you'll have no clue what's going on for the most part...  I suggest you borrow, rent, download, or buy the entire show (so far) so you can get a clue what's going on because the story is quite good, the effects are excellent, it's easy to relate to the characters, and the women, my gods, the women..... :aok

Hey!,
I saw Comander Adama at the convention in Toronto this weekend. Looked real happy! Appolo was to be there also but was a no show. I went to get Buzz Aldrins autograph, but could not afford the $200 dollar cost and I had to buy a seperate photo (no taking your own). Well I saw him from a distance.
 Captain Janeway was there (Babe)

Considering the news has been deleted (by a toaster?!?) I've got no idea what the said news was, although I know they announced a TV movie prequel to the re-imagined series.

I like the "new" BSG, and even though it lost its way a little in the 3rd season, the 4th season has been excellent (including the Razor mini). I loved the original series growing up, but to be realistic compared to the new series its a tad hokey and hasn't aged well at all...The only thing I would've kept were the original toasters (Centurion model 0005) and maybe Raiders. G80 was crap (apart from the starbuck ep) but the re-imagined series was seriously the best outcome for Galactica

Yeah we've got Fox too, and I pretty much IQ/DVR everything and watch it later (Dr Who, Deadliest Catch etc)...sometimes its frustrating, but in the weekends the sports channel make up for it, and the rest comes from a fast internet connect
