More plane enabled for CVs
« on: August 26, 2008, 03:35:23 PM »
I'd like to see planes like the P-40E and the P-47D-11 enabled from CVs. These aircraft were successfully launched from aircraft carries in large numbers in the Mediterrean and South Pacific. :aok  Of coarse the CVs were just transportation for the aircraft to their final destinations in most cases. But would still be cool for the MA.

What do you think?

Cheers...

No

Hmm, if they were launched in strength from them, and you can back that up... I don't see why not, although, if possible, I would like to see a small (maybe 5-7) perk cost for carrier launch... that is... if you can back it up  :aok

No, if more CV aircraft are wanted, then more CV aircraft should be added.  There are still lots that aren't in the game.

There were delivered off of carriers at times, they did not launch for combat sorties off of carriers.  As such, they should not be CV enabled.

The planes that are not enabled are not... for a reason.

1. They were never historically used on CVs.
2. With the exceptions of some rare or modified aircraft.
3. They only serve as an emergency landing platform, other than what it was meant for.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I have seen sources saying that P-47s were used for CAPs repeatedly over some carriers ferrying them in the Pacific.  I'll try and dig that one up.  If it turns out that this is in fact correct, and that this happened a lot, then I'm all for this idea.

Agreed, we need historically used CV planes before even thinking of this

How would you be able to take off with those planes anyway?  I can barely take off with the CV planes alone, why would I want to try and master taking off in even bigger and slower planes?
There was once a saying that goes "If you put an infinite amount of monkeys in a room with an infinite amount of typewriters, eventually they will produce something worth reading."

The internet has proved this wrong.

Full flaps just bleeds E, you should know that.  :aok

So, how I usually do it, hit WEP (0 flaps, you're able to grab speed faster) then 3/4 down the runway, add 50-75% flaps as needed for enough lift :D

FYI - You need lift not E to get off a CV...you should know that.
