Seriously

I always die. I know its what your fe sees that matters. But I have never had anyone die from coliding with me. Never

Situation

I was at a field in a 190f8 I jaboed the vh got a kill extended grabbed returned bounced a mossie extended grabbed came in again saw trimmer draggin a mossie, dove in on mossie he saw me and tried to get ho lined up. I went vert and we repeated this a few times. I ended up lo with little e but the mossie augered (Skurj).

A 190 was coming in fast I was too lo to barrel roll with the trees we have now so i break hard left roll under my bottom wing (left) and pull bac right. All the time watching the 190 I have centered in my canopy. One more turn hes strugglin to keep from overshot. I see him try for a snapshot his aim is way off.

Then I check him again and hes pullin hard to get round. I watch him fly through my canopy. Now no biggie.

But he tells me hes well under me.

Now he cant shot me because in his fe he is lo and cant get his nose on me. his tracers are going under me but at merge I'm ded. I see him appear to turn right into me.

Biggest gripe I have about this game and I know nothing can be done but fediddleing once let me be the one who survives.

Anyway I'm whining

I wonder if there is any way to make collisions not model damage, but rather to destroy both aircraft instead. I have been in a number of collisions where I have been damaged beyond flying ability and the other plane takes no damage. Both planes should just blow up so the connection of either plane makes no difference.

Don't worry Wotan, you're not the only one. I have NEVER seen another plane die from a collision with me, but I have died many a fiery death from it. I don't know what is so hard about modeling an equitable damage model. It's not like we're going to run around purposely ramming each other.

curious, do you ahve a high bandwidth connection, or a real solid, steady connection (low ping times)?

I have the same prob, when i get close and personal in a dogfighht, I ALWAYs lose a collision. I wonder if its whoever has the best connection that gets it, or vice versa.

dsl ping 50 main route 60-70 alt always solid except when new releases come out.............

I had heard numerous things from:

better ping gets the damage

higher speed

if you can look away

I am being dead honest I dont know of any time a colision "incident" in which I have not been killed.

That doesn't mean on my fe I haven't shot someone and the other guy saw me colide but I have never recieved a complaint as to such.

I have a cable connection and my latency is usually less than 60.

How do you know that the other guy never dies in a collision?
You make a pass at a guy and get some hits (HO, 2-circle, high closuer, etc.).
You then fly by and see his wrecked plane fall apart or explode.
You assume that you shot him down, but from his FE, he collided and died.

It may happen more often than you think.
A collision on his FE only will make no sounds on your FE.

It seems to me that unless collisions are perfectly on both players 12 then most often only one of the players will see the collision on their FE.

Hence the other guy will nearly always not experience the collision

To test this find a "freindly" enemy and sit him on the other end of de acked field from you and slowly taxi the planes into each other both from the 12 position.

Now try it with one taxi'ing faster than another 12 on 6.

Now try this at a higher taxi speed but this time at 90 deg with one aiming to clip the tail of the other.

It would be interesting to note if the "chasing" AC crashes out before the "chased" AC's FE puts them both in the same place.... In which case mutual assured destruction would be as rare as we may believe.

Collision (like beauty) could only ever be in the eye of the beholder.......

because I've been here since tour 3 at some point someone with out a doudt would have pointed out the fact that I hit them. Plus I always track the nme through merge.

I have never seen a plane mysteriously rip apart as I blow by.

um SW you read the situation I decribed in my first post?

Wasn't a matter of getting out of the way.

However its a moot point I went back and read Aknimitz's post that apar linked and I guess it makes sense.........

I even posted in that thread but never went back to read the whole thing.

So just view this post as a lwhine or whatever it is lwhiner whiner crew decides it is

I was flying a 190A5 (I have a 56K dial-up conn, but it's a pretty good one) and I was going HO with another plane. I fired a few shots, then pulled up at about 400yds.

I was going about 250MPH, next thing I know... half my tail is gone because his plane ran through me (heard no pings and he was a .50cal armed plane)..

Basically, my FE saw him where he was but his FE didn't see me where I was.

It sucks, but oh well.

In a collision both planes should suffer the damage and fate of the impact. Hardly realistic, or fair, for one to be killed and the other to fly away unscathed. Either the collision happened or it didn't. There are NO half ways on this fir real aircraft.

I don't know why you'd hear about it when someone died from a collision with you, I've died from them countless times but never have been struck with the desire to complain about the fact I was hurt by running into another plane.

Should I be complaining in those situations?
