impact damage to ground targets
« on: August 27, 2008, 03:22:30 PM »
i think if you leave a plane and bail out or crash or kamikaze you should do damage to the impacted thing in question eg in you fly into a fighter hanger it gets damaged insted of you dieing uneventfully

I'd rather not have hordes of augering noobs become even more effective than our laser guided bombsights.

No way.  There is already enough HO'in going on.

I am actually partial to lowering the collision dmg so that the guns of the planes do most of the work and the ramin'-HO'in-let'splaychicken types dont get their way.

99conman, I too was once for this idea. Now I oppose it. Its simple to find out why. Currently we have Lanc-Stukas. They're already bailing after bombing. So why bother giving them extra ords when they already have enough?

Great Idea. How about adding to this a bit. Use your ac as a flying bomb the pilot gets a 24 hour no fly death penalty. You will have to click the "I wish to be a flyingbomb tard.". That way unintentional augering will not cause unintended damage and invoke the death penalty.
Great idea ehh 99conman ?

Hate to rain on the parade, but HiTech has talked about going the complete opposite direction.  Suicide bombing is so detremental to gameplay that a long thread started by HT himself discussed putting a timer on the player dropping bomb(s) that they must stay alive X number of seconds, or their bomb damage will be undone.

I would like to see this implemented! As a bomber pilot that likes to RTB with holes in me (no holes = milk run, milk run = boring  :D )the only problem I would HOPE that they would fix is combat damage... If I get SHOT down while the timers still goin... I want my damage stayin :D

Oh my.  How he game would change. This evening alone I witnessed a half dozen bombers ditch within seconds of their ords hitting the ground.  I hope this works out.  This would be great for gameplay.

I really hate bomb 'n' bail dweebs.
There is few things more frustrating than chasing down a set of buffs only to see them drop and bail before you catch them.

It would be nice to see a crater or a pile of wreckage for a few minutes after a plane crashes. Just so you could see where your plane hit after you bailed and to give a little more detail to the game.

But damaging any thing isnt going to work. Every one would just dive down on a base in a little fighter and bail out 1000 feet up and land safly after there plane takes out a building.
