Bombing Bug
« on: October 21, 2001, 09:39:00 AM »
Last night I dropped a salvo of six bombs right on top of a target.  A minute or so later I had to bail out.

As I free fell over the target I expected to see my bombs hit that target.  They never did.  Moreover, they never hit the ground anywhere on the map!

There is apparently some bug that deletes your bomb drop if you bail from the aircraft before your bombs hit the ground.

This needs to be addressed.

from my experience you must be alive (or at least spiralling to your death) in order for your bombs to count.

if you die, bail, disco or exit your plane in any other manner, your bombs cease to exist.

this of course, is gay.

Bombs, Torpedos, rockets, all ord continues after your death. (Or rather *should* unless they've changed something in the code in V1.08)

Hey Rip, I've gotten a Ship Destroyed message while sitting in the tower after a kamakazi run. I've also dropped on targets that I know I was going to hit, died, and got no message. I don't know what the difference would be, but I agree, everything that you drop/launch/fire before you die should still count. A kill before you die is still a kill and should not be awarded to the closest player to the target.

I think ship kills are credited differently than most objects.  A complaint when CV's were first introduced was that you never knew if you got the kill or not when Torp'ing, cuz u usually died first +)
So adjustments were made.  This only applies to ship kills

I believe this also applies to field capture.  The other night I dropped my load of Troopers and dove to the deck to try to lure fighters away from the drunks.  I, of course, get to meet Mr Palmtree and end up back in my tower.  2 minutes later, after I am back up in a new plane, I get the "map room destroyed" message.

I dropped a load of troops from well above 10K one night.  I landed, got a fighter and headed back to the field.  Someone reported on the radio about seeing something strange.  He saw some troops floating around 10K   :D I never saw them, but I assume troops continue after your flight.  I didn't die, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Big <S> to DHBG; You guys know how to fly those big birds!
This one was piloted by fearless Vaq who didn't afraid to fly his B-17 @34k.
How high can B-17 climb anyway?

Thx for DHBG for showing how to fly bombers. I took one up with 100% fuel and full load and after a nap and little work I found myself from 35,000 feet with full load and plenty of fuel.

After I bombed Bish city (Hopefully killed lots of your elders there) I begun to think how high can this bird climb. First I climbed to 37k but when I saw couple Bish P-51 about 10k lower than me I got skeerd and climbed to 38k.

All I could see around were couple green men with their flying saucer but 'cause it was so frigging cold up there my guns were freezed. Thank Kod my ball turret gunner Billy-Bob had some moon-shine with him and he was able to make a small fire down there to get his guns to work. UFO tried to HO me and when it pulled up to avoid collision Billy-Bob opened fire thru our bombers fuselage (If man's name is Billy-Bob that's just what you could expect him to do...). I swear few bullets flew right thru dash board but somehow they didn't broke anything     :)

Cya guys tomorrow, I'll be that 35-38k B-17 messing with your City     :)
