Weird sound problem
« on: August 30, 2008, 11:36:54 PM »
I've built a new computer and decided to try the MB sound (Realtek HD).  My prior computer used a SB Live.  I have a weird problem: it sounds like everything has an exaggerated reverse Doppler effect.  Examples: the whistling of bombs falling goes up in pitch as they get close not down, and the pitch of planes goes from too low to too high as planes approach, pass, and retreat (ie just the opposite of the Doppler effect).  Is this a bug with Realtek 3D positional sound?  Should I just install the SB Live (I'd really hate to do that because it was a bear to get those drivers to actually install).  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nevermind.  I downloaded updated drivers and now AH doesn't sound like a Three Stooges movie.  The Doppler effect is correct now, but still too strong.  I can live with it though.  If you have built a new system with the GA-EP35-DSL motherboard and didn't like the onboard sound, try downloading an updated Audio driver from the Gigabyte web page (but be prepared to wait- it's incredibly slow).

also - set your directx sound to 3/4...the sound issues in this game with direct x seem to get halted somewhat there
