I think sector bars should NOT be visible in the enemy interior (or at sea) unless your side has something, that can see the enemy dots to report it. (wether it be a base or in your controlled territory). For a base under attack by GV's perhaps a blinking sector bar, which would simulate the base screaming that they are being attacked. (GV's and bombardment only here, not planes since we have the dots close in..)
grey bars would represent old or unconfirmed contact info. (spotted once but not current, or possible contact, ala GV crosscountry, in base secors\own territory.)
The dot radar could still work as it is, since you'd have the limited range.
I think this would give us a LOT better strategic and tactical possibilities than we have now. Of course everyone would be screaming for those PBY's for scouting duty...
but we could also eliminate the LONG sector bars also. Usually if it's a big fight going on someone is reporting where it is...
As it is now everyone knows exactly where the CV groups are by the sector bars, regardless if that CV is launching aircraft etc.
Totally negates strategic and tactical movement of fleets.
