What about the hunters? I've got about 10 grand worth of guns right now, they better give me money for them.

When & where did he say he wanted to get rid of all guns?

If elected, there's no reason to believe that Obama could magically repeal the 2nd amendment...seriously.  The only branch of government that really has the power to wreck the right of gun ownership is the legislature.

When & where did he say he wanted to get rid of all guns?

Yeah, that's the point, he hasn't.  It's more hysteria whipped up in the place of sober political analysis.

I don't think anyone should get rid of any guns.  Require basic knowledge of how to handle them safely, and perhaps other means of showing you are competent...yes...Ban, never.

The crazy crap is really gonna get ramped up now...

Relax, Obama Fans; people like our poster with the pooch and the 12g who have never spent more than 2 seconds a year thinking about political issues will evaluate the hype for all of 4 seconds on election day, then drive right by the poling booth when they see a line.

You really should spend your time worrying about guys like me.

you are right that he could not by himself get your guns, or mine! but he is for gun control and or surrendering most nonhunting type of weapons I.E. handguns, assault rifles!
now you can vote for him if you like, but for those who support the second amendment it is a risky idea to vote for someone who does not want what you want, just because you don't think he can change it!
you never know when some loony will go shoot up a classroom or something, and get congress all in a panic,
a sad thing this would be, but not a reason to give up your rights! say the reason he did it was because of free speech , someone spoke against his ideals, so he goes postal and kills,
the gov, takes away free speech and guns, which was the bigger loss to the people
                     A. free speech                                     first amendment
                     B. loss of the ability too own a gun          second amendment
                     C. all of the above
for me my answer is C.  there are many who i think are plenty more dangerous just with there ability too speak than there ability to shoot! i don't wish too silence them, i only choose not too listen, when i can!
but sometimes we must listen, and respond, so as too protect our right not to hear, as much as there right to say that which we don't care to listen too!
this argument is very similar for both 1st and 2ND amendment,
the fact that all have the right to own and bear arms means that they have the right to oppose different ideals, by force if necessary but only in diffence of our own, this goes against socialism were the good of the group outway the individual rights of the people!guns have always been an extension of means of communicating will,by other means!
laws say what will is legal and what is not!
politicians use guns to further there agenda after other means have failed to provide for there agenda!
so if you really want peace in this world, take the guns away from the politicians!!!
and by all means arm the people!!!
Flying since tour 71.

nice lookin Pit Redman, id still take my Rott over a pit any day though. as far as the subject goes, should Obama say this, and somehow convince the Legislature to override the 2nd amendment, i know many people that would lose half theyre life spendings on just guns and ammo....then youd have the soldiers. they go around shootin at Ragheads for however long a tour is, and get used to a gun, not saying that soldiers are obsessed with guns, but im just saying im sure there are a few soldiers who may depend on some sort of gun, bow or shotgun, tank or rifle, for them to feel safe. just my 2 cents, not saying its true  :salute

Being in favor of gun control can mean a lot of things, and it's jumping the gun (intentional pun) to say it means taking away handguns and hunting weapons (fwiw, I a much happier with my neighbor owning a rifle than a handgun).

you are right that he could not by himself get your guns, or mine! but he is for gun control and or surrendering most nonhunting type of weapons I.E. handguns, assault rifles!
Listen, I hate both political parties, but the burden of proof is on anyone here who wants to say this or that politician is going to take away your guns.  What's the evidence?  Has he said he's in favor of banning hand guns?  In most cases, politicians who say they support gun control mean they are in favor of intensive background checks for things like mental health or a criminal record, or regulating the sale of firearms at gun shows, etc.

There's also a new alignment of hunters and conservationists, e.g. ducks unlimited.  It will be interesting to see how these alliances play out in the future of the democratic party.

You could possibly see a(n) assault weapons' ban such as the one put in place during the Clinton administration, and which was recently allowed to sunset. However, It would take all three branches of gov't. to repeal the 2nd.

Silly liberal... the purpose of a handgun is to keep the gun owner alive long enough to fight his way to his rifle.

Ducks Unlimited is certainly not new, it was founded in 1937.
