Does it work for Vista?

If so then I would be able to play AH finally on 2 cores now right?

According to the readme it works with Vista. Just run it with elevated privileges by right clicking and using 'Run As Adminstrator.'
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I was wondering if they were ever going ot be able to pull that off for Vista.

I would really like to hear from someone who has Vista and a dual-core AMD CPU about this.  Does it fix the issues with Aces High II?

WOW it actually works.

No more do you have to run AH in compatibility mode.  I cant believe AMD actually did this.

So you are running Vista and it works.  Good to hear.  I';; make some adjustments to the stickies in the Tech Support forum today.

Would like to hear from others as well.

The only thing I am surprised about is they did it without Microsoft getting all wound up about it.

I tried this version on Vista last night.  It worked great for about an hour, then the lock-ups began, along with the normal spinning clipboard issue.  That's too bad, because I was able to turn my graphics res. all the way up, and bump the frame-rate lock from 45 to 60.  Oh well, I guess it's back to compatibility mode for me.

That could be something else.
I used to get the same problem, its a timing problem with modern graphics cards.
I told skuzzy how I fixed it. I can't remember!!!!!

That's posted somewhere. You have to go to regedit and do something.

I am not sure if what you are tlkaing about Kev will work in Vista.  Microsoft has this new thing in Vista that gets all pissed off when the kernel gets patched and it is not via the Microsoft updater.  It may very well undo the AMD patch.

Skuzzy needs more coffee, his typing is degrading  :D.  Also how come Skuzzy can post "bad words"?
Here's to hoping Skuzzy gets more coffee, and i don't get the boot :pray.

But on topic Thanks for the link to the patch, just had to re-format because of a virus, and having that link is easier than searching for it.

Dumb question but whats "compatability mode"?

When you say "turn up grahpic res"? Do you mean AH graphic settings or video card 3D settings?

Compatibility mode uses only one core. I'm don't completely understand it but it is based on windows 98.

Setting the game to run in "Windows 98/ME" compatibility mode just forces the OS to run the game on one CPU core as Win98/ME were not capable of using more than one core.  It is a work around for a design difference in the AMD dual core CPU's in the use of the high resolution counters.

Intel multi-core CPU's do not have the problem, unless you have a computer with a multi-core mobile Intel CPU, then it will also have the same problem but for different reasons.  Multi-core mobile CPU's are a bit of a joke due to power management.

Also for Getback -

Wasn't a registry change it was a timing change in the BIOS.

Modern cards are bus huggers, changing the latency to a higher value stopped all my lockups, just can't remember which one I changed!!!!!!!
