So she chose to get preggers?  I seriously doubt that.   Come on, the politician parent stresses abstinence-only sex-ed and her kid gets pregnant.  You don't see the irony in that?  What if Bristol or her boyfriend happened to have a condom handy, don't you think there'd be one less pregnant minor in Alaska right now?

I see the irony in it, but, um, do you REALLY think the lack of sex-ed in schools was the reason for it? Just because you don't sit through a 6-month class on what a contraceptive is doesn't mean you don't get the concept of "use a condom or get pregnant". With T.V. and the internet, 5-year-olds get the concept of brith control. Also worth noting is the fact that condoms AND the pill have been proven to be 97% effective. Whose to say this wasn't that extra 3%? Or, did the condom break? Trust me, it DOES happen, (And some brands have a tendency for it it seems...). They havn't published a press release on the nature of the intercourse leading to this, and I hope to god they do not, so we REALLY cannot say that it was this lack of sex-ed that led to this.

She chose to have unprotected sex. She knew the risks and took them anyways. Her choice, now she is dealing with the consequences. No I don't see irony in that. It was choices that she made, choices that were contrary to what she had been taught by her parents that put her in the situation she is in now.

If they had wanted them, they could have purchased condoms at any drug store. Again, they chose to not do so. They made irresponsible decisions.

Children of great parents do not ALWAYS toe the line. No one is perfect.

Anyone who is stupid enough to think sex education prevents pregnancy is stupid enough to think nutrition information on food prevents obesity. Handing out free condoms doesn't do it either. Just like giving junkies free clean needles doesn't stop Hepatitis or AIDS.

Face facts. No teenager with an IQ above 80 is so unaware as to not know that unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy and STDs. The truth is that teenagers believe "it is not going to happen to me". THAT is how it happens. Anyone who thinks otherwise is only fooling themselves.

I didn't go through sex-ed class and I never ended up getting anyone pregnant during school.

Obviously.... the problem is, abstinence only education, which Palin supports, obviously does not work. I mean, if there was a case where it was going to, it would have been here.

Does sex ed in the schools coupled with free condoms or birth control pills stop teen pregnancy? Obviously not.

No education program is fool proof simply because kids *know it all*. Even the combined life experiences of their teachers and parents are trumped by the kids grand knowledge of all things. ;)

Excellent, I love the way the Palin family is handling this.  

Obama made a perfect statement regarding family being off limits as well.  He has two young daughters, he knows whats at stake.
