Yak3 =  UBER little stunt plane.   Very dangerous in a A2A role.

Tu2  =  Very capable medium bomber, speed, cannon, good bomb loadout and the first Soviet bomber I would love to see in AH.

I16  =  Must have for early war arena and scenarios.

Just these three will be enough to give the Russians a nice little set.

Hardly.  check the Yak-9 vs. the Yak-3 vs. La-7 (which should be a perk ride; but that is another thread)

Yak-9
Maximum speed: 367 mph at altitude (591 km/h)
Range: 845 miles (1,360 km)
Service ceiling 30,000 ft (9,100 m)
Rate of climb: 2,690 ft/min (13.7 m/s)
Wing loading: 37 lb/ft² (181 kg/m²)
Power/mass: 0.17 hp/lb (0.28 kW/kg)
Saying "Yak-9" is kinda like saying "Spitfire" or "Bf109" and not specifying the specific version.  Like saying the Spitfire has a top speed of 355mph and is therefor completely inferior to the Bf109K-4 without noting that you are talking about the Spitfire Mk I and not the Spitfire Mk XIV.

Yak-3
Maximum speed: 646 km/h (401 mph)
Range: 650 km (405 miles)
Service ceiling 10,700 m (35,000 ft)
Rate of climb: 18.5 m/s (3,645 ft/min)
Wing loading: 181 kg/m² (36.7 lb/ft²)
Power/mass: 0.36 kW/kg (0.22 hp/lb)

La-7
Maximum speed: 680 km/h (425 mph)
Range: 635 km (394 miles)
Service ceiling 9,500 m (31,160 ft)
Rate of climb: 18.3 m/s (3,608 ft/min)
Wing loading: 38 lb/ft² (187 kg/m²)
Power/mass: 0.42 kW/kg (0.25 hp/lb)

So yes to perking Yak-3: tighter turning, longer ranged, equal climbing, slightly slower than the La-7 hoped-for-in-many-a-VvsDweebs-dreams.  :D

the Yak-9 you have quoted is the Yak-9T, which is a 1943 aircraft. The Yak-9U (early variations in mid 1944, and then the main model from late 1944 till end of war) got about 415-420 at its best altitude (16k).

Yak-3 saw its first combat in late 1943 I think, and saw service in different variations till the end of the war.

so perking the Yak-3 is pointless.

where you got those informations? wich yak-3 variant? (there are 8 yak 3 models) and the yak3 (final model with NS-23) could fly to 447 mp/h.
Secondary, I don't understand why the yak3 should be perked, it's not an "all players" plane, it won't give you any advantage against La7, Spit16 or 190D if you don't hadle it well...and it has a single 20mm cannon (23mm for the NS-3)

If I had meant a Yak-9"x", I would have said a Yak-9"x". If I say Yak-9 in mean Yak-9, not "P", not "U", not "DD"; HOWEVERI did make a mistake in the figures for the Yak-9 listed, I supplied data for a Yak-9P, 1946 variant, a plane that we would not even have in AH; my apology.

As far a sources go:
1) www.wio.ru is a good one to source
2) www.militaryfactory.com everyone should know this one
3) Stepanets, A.P. "Yak Fighters in WWII", isbn#5217011920: The best source on Yakovlev anyone could ask to own

As far as perking the 3, if we ever get it, it is still a "Must" in my book.  I am hard pressed to think of a more dangerous low-altitude (where we mostly fight) 1v1 fighter that saw service in WWII.  Nimble handling, light-weight (2700kg-3000kg), FAST acceleartion, good pilot visabilty, double-ish the range of a La-7, and enough cannon that a average pilot can bag 2-3kills, plus these suckers are tough to kill.

In the end, we won't get the 3 from AH before 2010 anyhow (if ever), so what is the point anyway?  :(
