If I had meant a Yak-9"x", I would have said a Yak-9"x". If I say Yak-9 in mean Yak-9, not "P", not "U", not "DD";
HOWEVERI did make a mistake in the figures for the Yak-9 listed, I supplied data for a Yak-9P, 1946 variant, a plane that we would not even have in AH; my apology.As far a sources go:
1)
www.wio.ru is a good one to source
2)
www.militaryfactory.com everyone should know this one
3) Stepanets, A.P. "Yak Fighters in WWII", isbn#5217011920: The best source on Yakovlev
anyone could ask to own
As far as perking the 3, if we ever get it, it is still a "Must" in my book. I am hard pressed to think of a more dangerous low-altitude (where we mostly fight) 1v1 fighter that saw service in WWII. Nimble handling, light-weight (2700kg-3000kg), FAST acceleartion, good pilot visabilty, double-ish the range of a La-7, and enough cannon that a
average pilot can bag 2-3kills, plus these suckers are tough to kill.
In the end, we won't get the 3 from AH before 2010 anyhow (if ever), so what is the point anyway?
