Jerry Reed

Died of emphysema at the age of 71. Perhaps best known as Burt Reynolds' co-star in many movies, he was also among the most talented musicians that ever lived, and a great song writer as well.

That is the suxxor, but not unexpected.

I met him once at a concert he did in Waukegan for Abbott employees.  Good guy...down to earth, even at his peak.

RIP

Loved him in Smokey and the Bandit.  Only 71? As his character in Smokey & The Bandit would say  "Several years ahead of Schedule"

Damn. Too young. No doubt cigarettes peeled at least 15 years off his life. RIP Jerry.

Jerry could play a top tier bad guy.  The character he played in "Gator" was so cold it would send a shiver down your back.  "The Survivors" saw him co-starring with Walter Matthau and Robin Williams, and while the movie didn't break any box-office records, his steely eyed wise-cracking stick-up artist role was first rate.

RIP Jerry.

He did a great job in BAT21. Amos Moses is a classic.
Sad to hear he's gone.
