Was he in the wizard of Oz?

Nope--but almost.

Did he have one of the hottest daughters on tv?

You bet.

WTG Boner :aok I figured this one would be easy.

"Buddy Ebsen took up sailing, eventually becoming so proficient in seamanship that he taught the subject to U.S. Navy officer candidates. In 1941, he applied for a commission in the Navy, but was turned down. He applied for a Coast Guard commission, was accepted, and promptly given the rank of lieutenant, junior grade. This was one step up from the grade of ensign, which is the usual rank given newly-appointed seagoing officers. He served on the Coast Guard-manned navy frigate USS Pocatello, which recorded weather at its “weather station” approximately 1,500 miles west of Seattle. These patrols consisted of thirty days at sea, followed by ten days in port at Seattle. He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant in 1946."

Yep, Buddy Ebsen was almost in the Wizard of Oz, starting out as the Scarecrow, but exchanged roles with Ray Bolger who started out playing the Tin Man. He made it through all the rehearsals, recorded all his numbers, and began filming. It was then discovered that he was allergic to the powdered aluminum make-up. Not only did it irritate his skin, but the powder got into his lungs and caused a near fatal illness.

The way most of us remember him:

Well, it's not like this one was hard. Care to guess who the guy on right is?

"Rod Serling served as a U.S. Army paratrooper and demolition specialist with the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific Theater in World War II from January 1943 to January 1945. He was seriously wounded in the wrist and knee during combat and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Serling's military service deeply affected the rest of his life and informed much of his writing. Due to his wartime experiences, Serling suffered from nightmares and flashbacks. During his service in World War II, he watched as his best friend was crushed to death by a heavy supply crate dropped by parachute onto the field."

I'm thinking some of these people have gone to great lengths to hide their war-time pictures. Very frustrating.

Close... turns out the intro changed every season. This was from season #2:

"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead — your next stop, the Twilight Zone."
