Almost been a year since DGS. Who remembers arguably the best scenario hosted in AH? I remember clearly since i was flying allies with the 361st 'Yellow Jackets'. Best time I've ever had.  Anyone think that there's going to be another scenario to match DGS's organization, immersion, realism, and planning?

I hope so.  DSG was a blast.  Havent had that much fun since Big Week in AW.

Some more fun and action packed scenarios (IMHO) to search about for you newer AH pilots:

- BoB 2006
- BoB 2004
- Kurland 2004
- Ruhr 2004
- Niemen 2003
- BoB 2002 (? iirc)

I see no reason not to do some scenarios at times workable for Europeans, if there are enough Euro players to make it worthwhile.

Consider, if AHII filled out the EW plane set a bit then did a BoB scenario on the same scale as DGS...

You yanks are lucky with that. DGS was at 5am for me, which meant a 4:30 start to get into the arena and get set up for roll time. So whilst I had a fantastic time doing it there was just a huge enjoyment element missing for me. It would have been great to kick back, strap in and load up the beer fridge whilst on the epic missions. Life just isn't fun at 5am.  :lol

The highlight for me was being appointed the designated 'experte' for my squad in one of the frames. I got a kill or two and got my 109K back to the home base safe and sound. I was the last plane to touch down, I think. It felt good to be given the resp

Then I went back to bed.  :cry

BoB '08 is in the works. Just need an Allied CO to get things started.
BTW scenarios are at 3PM EST for the sake of our Euro friends (I assume), not the FSO 11PM EST.

If it's on a weekend, it's OK to drink that early if you have a good reason. Remember...it's noon somewhere. :aok

I've never had the chance to do a DSG, but from the response everyone is giving I hope that opportunity comes around soon. Sounds like a good time.

'DGS' is short for 'Der Grosse Schlag'- it's a scenario that was run last November. There's usually a couple of scenarios per year, we just finished up Rangoon '42, and next we're running the Battle of Britain in November.
Der Grosse Schlag (German for The Big Blow) was just a really good scenario. It was based off of Galland's plan for the Luftwaffe to throw everything it had at the USAAF for a few weeks in late '44 (though IIRC Hitler rejected it). DGS flung 109's and 190's against B24's, B17's, P51's, P38's, and P47's..... it was really a great scenario.

Fencer, the Allied CO, apparently tried to run us out of fuel before he came into German airspace so us in the Luftwaffe had to racetrack (and sometimes rearm and racetrack again) for 30mins+ before the bombers came in... but, I tell ya what... when you're in the middle of 'who has the most fuel?', or boringly staring at your gauges, and all the sudden someone calls out "enemy fighters at 10 o'clock!".... man, that's the biggest adrenaline rush you'll ever get in Aces High.

I can't wait for BoB'08.

Tried to run you out of fuel?

Hmm..it takes awhile to get ~162 bombers at altitude, speed and ready to go into enemy airspace.
Thanks 6 bomber pilots in each bomber group, 3 Bomber groups in each division and 3 divisions, plus the drones of each pilot.

Now you get why it took nearly 1 hour before we entered your airspace?

That's what I was told at the time. It would have been a good strategy, catching some of us RTB and climbing back, IMO :)
Doesn't change the fact that it was an awesome scenario :)

Which side you plan on flying with for BoB '08?

Let me get this right...so the LW guys flew around for an hour without seeing a bad guy?

I believe for 2-3 frames, large fighter sweeps were sent in the first few minutes.  Large furballs were experienced by many pilots, but not ALL.

In Frame 3, the axis were no longer engaging the fighter sweep and it was deemed ineffective and was not attempted in frame 4.

So the bombers never saw enemy fighters in the first 60 minutes.  A successful bomber mission would fly for 140 minutes.  Many times, the bombers would be engaged for over 60 solid minutes.
