In The Army Now
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:49:36 PM »
I am finally in the Army. My MOS is Infantry and I got 18k for a 3 year enlistment. I leave for boot camp on the 22 of this month and will be gone for 17 or so weeks. My training is at Bragg and I plan to get some.

The point of the spear.

Before we all wish you luck... and we all do; remember, you'll need it, AND every bit of wisdom, training, resolve and competence that mean SOB DI is gonna kick up you backside.

Goods luck, sir.

And you laughed a few days ago when I told you to go Infantry. ;)

Infantry training is at Benning, not Bragg.  Bragg is home to the 82nd, not a Basic Training Base.

It's hooah, not woowah :furious

whoopeeit Private!  Get down and beat your face til I get tired!  Your momma ain't gonna be around to correct your no-fact knowin' behind anymore because you belong to Uncle Sam now maggot!  Are you lookin at me funny Private?! What, you think I'm sexy?  Huh?  Get down!  Flutterkicks go.  Stop.  Get up.  Get down.  Get up.  Get down.  Why do they send me all the friggin retards?!  Get out my face Private.  Now.  GOOooo!

Enjoy yourself. Muuuaaahhhh :D

Once you finish boot why don't you go airborne. It will be easier right after boot than later on.

Now some serious advice, take it or leave it as you wish.

Don't bust a gut trying to max the first PT test. They are expecting you to progress as you go along. DO start running right now. Be able to run for at least 3 miles now, it will pay off at boot. Do build up your push ups and sit ups. Listen a lot, talk very little no matter how much you think you know now, what you know is either going to be wrong or out of date. Things that do not seem to make much sense at first should turn out to be rather sensible later on when you build more knowledge. There is an old axiom, sweating more in training means less bleeding in combat.

Do not try to be the top soldier and do not try to be the least soldier do learn to BE a soldier. Best of luck. You are joining a long and distinguished line of soldiers in service to the country.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
