I downloaded the "Richthofen's Skies" and the mods, I got in the planes and couldn't even get the thing off the ground.

I tried everything... all the key commands and all I could do was turn engine on, fire all guns, and cruise the countryside... on the ground LOL!!

If I could get of the ground I think I would like it :)

The online players tonight were a total of '8'.  So I don't think there would be a great online experience like you find in AHII.

If HTC were to launch a WWI version, we would smoke 'em :D

Exactly!  With the basic flight model developed to the point that us internet eggheads will debate for hours over 5-10mph of top speed, I think simply applying the model to WWI era aircraft would be relatively simple (especially when compared to a start up company building everything from scratch).

I would be a big supporter of an experiment.

Why not model a very small number of WWI craft.  Set up an arena with a very limited very small map, no base capture stuff.  Make it available to AH2 subscribers.  See what kind of new life it breathes into the player base.

And to do it quickly, just model it off the D3A Val! :D

hehe

But really, given the same level of attention that the AH2 flight models have been given, HTC could flesh out a really intgeresting and diverse plane set.

Also, something that I would find interesting would be an arena (whether WWI or the current AH2 planeset) that starts at the EW stage and then matures into MW and then LW over time.  Like an arena that follows the time progression over the course of a tour.

Ex: 4 Week Month: First week, you only get EW Planes, 2nd Week, you only get MW planes, 3rd Week, you only get LWPlanes...

Which really doesn't make a difference to me, because I fly the Spit 5, Spit 9, P-39D/Q and Jug. So, it isn't a sacrafice at all to me. (course, a sortie in the P-51D is always great!)

When Flyboys came out, there was rumors of HiTech having a hand in the WWI game that was released at the same time.  He popped into a thread we were discussing and asked us where we thought that game's flight model came from...

(Image removed from quote.)

I would so love to play such a game.  Just looking at the art.  Nueport(sp?), SE5, and maybe a DR1...  Heck toss in an Albatross and a Camel and we got the makings of something really cool!
