Yes, and if they had used real soldiers and real funerals you'd be screaming about the outrage in exploiting those who serve our country and those who have paid the ultimate price. You're making yourself look silly.  Next.

Yea I'd agree with this one.. unless they got permission from the soldiers families then it's better to just use fake footage. I see no real problem with that, even if I don't agree with their message.

It's a entirely different thing though of they use actors for soldiers that are alive or conjure up fake groups like Swift Boat Veterans like they did in the last election.

It is fairy obvious that you have never served in the military,

>> It is against the UCMJ for a serving member to participate in uniform, in a political campaign.<<

For that matter If I had wanted to attend one of the conventions, I would have had to go to an "Ethics" class and be briefed on allowable activities for government employees. (Hatch act)

So you feel it would be appropriate for a service member to break the law to appease your sensibilities?

Big deal. If the DNC...say isn't that an acronym for an abortion of some type...anyway if the DNC is just unhappy because they didn't think of doing it first. On the other hand perhaps they wanted to distance themselves from everyone by saying they only want "Change" but they will stick with the old congressional hands to keep the change from looking like anything different.

Scraping of the uterus. Happens in abortions and after a miscarriage.

I wonder if anybody will bring up about all the fake funerals in movies and stuff and maybe complain bout them being fake as well.

Oh SNAP....

Them der movies are movies and not the RNC.

Wasnt the moon landing faked?
Something about a set in the desert that was buried in sand.
Maybe that was the Ben Hurr set.

Go figure.

How about fake footage of melting glaciers? Guess that means global warming is fake right. :aok

Reminded me of a thread I was part of a while back. Is this the "fake footage of melting glaciers" you were referring to? In An Inconvenient Truth? This is part of what I said about that.

...All I can see from the video in the link is a shot of some ice shelves. It sure doesn't look they are doing anything spectacular like caving, melting before our eyes, or exploding due to solar radiation. They are just sitting there existing. We all agree that ice shelves exist don't we? Al Gore didn't trick me into thinking they existed. I already knew they did.[/b]

Go ahead, watch the video again. Look at the 5 -8 second clip. What do you actually see? Keep in mind that the separate shots of ice shelves caving, ABC calls, "actual video." Also, notice that ABC adds additional footage to their story from "The Day After Tomorrow" that Al Gore never used. But who eats it up?....

This is a very similar situation to what Al Gore was being criticized about - the use of "fake" footage in an instance when it was pretty much an irrelevant issue. Now, conversely, it is Republicans that are being chastised for an analogous incident.

It will be interesting to see the very same people who were horrified at Al Gore's use of artificial footage rallying to defend their team. Same goes for those that defended Gore, but are attacking Republicans for the funeral footage. Newsflash: it's the same damn thing. How can they attack it, then turn around and defend it? And vice versa? That's just not rational.

It shows that some people (Democrats, Republicans, Communists, whoever) are blind followers that desperately feel the need to be a part of something. Even if doing so means casting aside their ability to examine, interpret, use logic, and think for themselves in general. They just jump behind whatever cause/issue/candidate their side tells them to, no matter how little sense it makes.

As is the usual recourse for these lemming types, when being stared at by an argument that makes sense, and that shows what fools they are, it will either be completely ignored or they will fall back onto some form of ad hominem.

Edit:

Here's that thread I mentioned, if anyone wants to see it. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,234233.msg2851714.html#msg2851714

Maybe they couldn't find any footage that suited the program from real sources. Maybe they didn't want to use footage shot by some of the un-biased news corps. Maybe the DNC is trying to pick apart the RNC because they know they are about to get hammered in an election?

Maybe the Republican party likes to rap themselves in the flag, maybe they do this because they can't stand on the issues, maybe they'd rather show pretty pictures then talk about the reality of war, maybe the military in general and soldiers in particular are what they use to get votes more so then something they should use with wisdom. Maybe they are just a bunch of politicians looking for a photo op at the militarys expense hoping that they will get the blind faith of the average citizen without the bother of actually earning it.

Well, having looked through both threads, Iron is basically the only person who's stance changes depending on what party he's talking about.  The line "but it's such an important issue that any lie or exaggeration is justified to move people to act" is a gem though.

You need to understand that even though the majority of the posters here (in the O' Club) seem interchangable, they retain a sense of self-identity.  While it is absolutely true that the "independants" on this board will excuse nearly any indiscretion by a Republican while screaming themselves hoarse over a Democrat doing the same thing, you only caught one person contradicting themselves.

Most certainly.  :aok

Speaking as one who attends military funerals on a regular basis, I can assure you that the family would not appreciate a movie crew at a loved ones funeral for the most part.
Someone really needs to get a grip on a thing called reality.
Democracy is two wolves deciding on what to eat. Freedom is a well armed sheep protesting the vote.

The thing that really gets me PO'ed is when politicians use images real or otherwise of our troops in anyway shape or form to show how patriotic they are, as if the the other guy isn't.

oh, and as far as independents pulling hard for Republicans and being against democrats, not this time, at least Obama never joined a political party dedicated to seceding from the union. Ck out the Alaska independence party that Palin was a member of.

Not that long ago she no longer wanted to be an American, so now she wants to be VP and possibly President.

That's not gonna get my vote. She is nothing but an opportunist.
