Vernon A. Ford was my next door neighbor
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:12:21 AM »
I was fortunate enough to live next door to a WWII pilot, and a class act he was!He started the war flying for the Brits, switched to the USAAF,flying P40's in North Africa. He won the 1946 Bendix Race, jet class, flying a F80 in record time.Vern could tell stories about Yeager and all the other test pilots, and the adventures at Pancho's.
Vern has been gone for a long time now,but I still fondly remember how he and his wife Kit,took my family under their wing, and gave friendship, and support when we were young and struggling.

Thats really great you had that opportunity. The years have came and went
and there's not alot of our WWII vets left. Congrads on a relationship of a lifetime. :salute
