im not opposed or in favor of this. but if i had a rivalry against a pilot i would have my whole squad target him.

Do we really want a cold heartless community

Yes.

(The central reason I pay $15 a month to play this is the fact that all AIs in offline sims are shockingly predictable, and the combat with them one way or another is never as random, chaotic, or historical as it is online. Also, AH has the best viewing system of any combat flight sim, and that is "where its at" for a combat flight sim.)

gee I guess  alt+r no longer works.

Hello Bronk,

This key displays who is flying the plane you selected?  Your information is appreciated.

Alt + R = Record. When you go view your recorded film it tells you who is within 20 K of your plane in the footage.

There are positive points towards knowing who killed you because the civil types can then discuss the fight or know who to salute.

ill agree to this as a while back bruv and sveno were just of a base waited for uppers which i did. now 5-6 times i got killed by 1 or the other and after a while i PMed bruv and asked what i was doing wrong and had a convo for a few mins.

another time i was in a 1v2 (my 51d v spit 16 and a f4u?) i did very well in the fight lasting several mins and i was pretty chuffed with how i flew (i died BTW with out a kill) i had a long convo after that with 1 of the cons.

ShrkBite, think about it a little while. If you saw the name of the person running wouldn't you (and most likely everyone else) be enticed to flame the pilot running or BnZ'ing? Because of this major side-effect I don't see why HTC would even want to try to implement this feature.
I don't think that's a side effect, I think that's what he wanted.
In either case, no thanks.

if you had a "good" fight with someone then maybe show who shot you down, or who you shot down. like a 3 minute fight would be considered a "good" fight.

just for the record....i dont fly and die and get pissed off much at the game just because some vanscrew shot my 262. the idea was more to a positive flying way. But most of your points are true and im pretty sure this idea will not pass because of the people taking the game much to serious. Thanks for your opinion guys! <S>!

I have quite the opposite opinion.

I believe if you shoot down something, you should see "Spit16 destroyed #2" or the like, and "You have been shot down"

It might make it more about the airplanes and the history and less about the egos and discourage grown men from p.m.ing each other to pursefight and otherwise act like ill-bred 8 year olds.

For all the many reasons that have been listed showing who's piloting the enemy plane is a bad, bad idea.

However, I have to disagree with those who want to go to the opposite extreme, and eliminate the post-mortems as well.  Part of what makes flight sims enjoyable is the sense of camaraderie, and you would certain amount of that if the enemy players were completely anonymous.

Not posting the names "x player shot you down"  would definately stop the PM's I've been getting lately. :aok
