Pilot Wounds
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:20:19 PM »
So guys , I was just flying a sortie in my f4u , and I noticed a N1k george on me 6. First thought was wut oo , im a goner. Then I luckily get to a turn fight and kill him. All thought with his 20mm round he gave me a pilot wound.I was still able to RTB and land a good 2 sector flight. Im thinking what kinda BS is that. Anyone see what a 20mm does to a person? LOLOLOL its not pretty. The germans use to slaughter ground troops with them. It was ugly. So just saying , damage model should be fixed in that sense , a 20mm should really be an instant death. Atleast in a minute or so. If its a head shot , your dead. Arm shot ur mission an arm etc. Either way ur dead. Just think that it should time out quicker considering there's a huge gash in a piece of ur pilots flesh.. Dunno just thinking ::)

Cannon rounds, for the most part, are HE. Most likely the round hit the armor plate, the engine or somewhere else near the cockpit and you got splash damage from it (shrapnel) and thus a pilot wound.

I have inflicted and received a couple insta-death hits with cannons, its already in the game. One clean ping to the cockpit is enough.

Yes, true, but the PW damage model DOES need redone in the corsair T_T...

Flying earlier, just one example of it, p51 saddles up on me, starts shootin at d600, 1 .50 hits my direct 6 o' clock (yes, 1, that's all the pings I saw/heard) and KAZAM!! I have a PW in a 1d from 6 'o' clock...

For some reason, I think a .50 cal round from d600 woulda been stopped by the armor plating in the back, if they won't be, I'll trade my 6 view for 'Pilot Protection' (it's like one of those schams on TV... BUY ONE NOW!! GET THE OTHER FREE!! *in quiet, fast speak* pay triple shipping and handling)...

My .02 on THAT whole subject...
Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

If you film such a shot you might slow it down and actually see more. I once shot a 262 at 800 and thought I only got three hits but in reviewing the video in slow motion I saw a lot more.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
