Computer Reboots While GVing
« on: September 11, 2008, 02:11:07 PM »
In certain vehicles when I turn the engine off the computer reboots and when I get hit with a bomb. It only happens in vehicles. I think it might be the drivers for my Tritton head set but not sure.

Has anyone else had this problem.

are you using any custom sounds? If so remove them and try it again. Custom sounds are know for kicking you back to the desktop.

I am using custom sounds, bit I figured out tonight it is the Tritton headset drivers causing me to reboot while GVing. Ive downloaded a few different drivers and the same result. Any one know of a generic driver that work ok

I'd be more inclined to think it is the custom sounds causing the problem.  There are many sound packs out there with problems in them.  Hard to say you have any other issues when you are using files which can cause the game to crash,.

Wing,I have the same problem sometimes, but not very often anymore..

My headphones ALSO had their own drivers..I posted about it,and after showing skuzzy the dxdiag,he told me I had 2,read it 2,sound accelerations running in DXdiag..one for onboard sound and the other for the headset.I went in and turned down the OB,or headset,I forget which one,I believe it was the OB,all the way down..So as far as I can tell I only have ONE sound process going on in-game..I did this due to SCREEN freezes when firing, and it did fix it...Your mileage may vary in your situation..

I'd be willing to bet you have some incompatible sound drivers.

I had this SAME EXACT PROBLEM after I got my surround sound headphones (USB).

To make a long story short, there were two versions of the headphones.. old and new.  They both looked identical, but apparently have some hardware differences.

I had the old version, but they were shipped with the drivers for the new version.

The drivers installed perfectly, found the hardware, and worked perfectly.. EXCEPT when GVing in AH, causing lock ups when shutting off the engine (especially in the Panzer and the M3).  Also would happen randomly in a GV, but usually when shutting off the engines.

I spent hours (tech support was a joke) and ended up finding the correct drivers hidden on their website with no direct link.  A google search eventually led to me finding their FTP webpage with a bunch of drivers.  After installing the correct drivers, all was good.

About a year later I upgraded my computer with a fresh XP installation.  By this time I had long forgotten about this issue, and had to jog my memory because it was again locking up in GV's.  Once I remembered it was pretty simple to fix.

I should add, these were LTB brand USB Surround Sound Headphones (USB), using C-Media drivers.

I tried using the standard game sound pack with the same results. I decided to remove the Tritton drivers and see what happens and everything works fine and that is with custom sounds.

Trigger29,

Do you have a link to that Tritton web site and the drivers name. I couldn't find anything last night

Thank you
