Where have all the real democrats gone.   :(

They're hiding with all of the real Republicans, having a few cocktails, and shaking their heads in disbelief.

If JFK were still alive he would be even more liberal. People see him as he was then (frozen in history due to his death) but dont forget his brother Ted is still surviving and I believe they would share many of the same views as time progressed.

You can't forget that the Democrats and Republicans of that time weren't arguing over the same thing they are today.

Back then being a Democrat meant you believed that the States should have more power than the federal government.  And being a Republican meant you believed that the Federal Government should have more power than the states.

That's why if you read a history book worth its salt, it will describe things like Conservative Democrats, Liberal Democrats, Liberal Republicans...  The first word describes what we believe today.  The second describes what I just wrote above.

From what I understand, Kennedy was leaning away from the war in Vietnam. He didn't think it was any our business. So the author may be wrong on that account. I just don't think Kennedy would be a Democrat this day and age. They are just wacko.

Reagan and Kennedy where my 2 favorite Presidents. They share many of the same ideals.

You didn't ask, but I think the worst presidents were Johnson, Nixon, and Carter.

The real question is, what would America look like if Bobby had become POTUS.

They were different times. The upheavals of the sixties hadn't happened. He would probably have been sucked into Vietnam just like Johnson. You just can't extrapolate backwards and conscript JFK into the Republicans.  :lol
