It's a fantastic game, there's an add-on too.

There first time you witness an arty strike will be a memorable experience.

It's a great game indeed. If you're going to get it, don't forget to get an expansion pack called Opposing Fronts, which opens UK and German campaigns.

Absolutely love this game :).  Don't expect it to be realistic though!  Most of the mechanics of the weapons and abilities etc. are set up for gameplay balance.  It's been out for more than a year.  Where have you been???? :)

How is it as far as system requirements, I mean do you need a big graphics card to get decent frame rates or anything?

I hate strategy games.I always have.I've always played shooters and sims, and found strategy games to be boring and tedious.

A friend of mine talked me into buying this one,and I've been hooked for over a year. It's that good.

I haven't picked up the Opposing Fronts addon yet. Is it as good as the original? I still play the original and have been playing Supreme Commander as well. That is getting kinda long in the tooth for me though but CoH is still rocking away.

COH was good for about a week. It turned out to be an inferior multiplayer game due to side imbalances.
Some bits are pretty clever, like going to cover, and fields of fire.

My review (short)

Overall, the best RTS I have seen yet. Dispenses with standard hoard-n-horde tactics to focus on a more realistic system, an incredibly complex rock-paper-scissors, where any of the three can duck behind a wall. The cover mechanics and squad system are something I want to see in EVERY RTS, and is what I see as a weakness in all other RTS games. The balance is always a problem, as it is hard to balance something that was imbalanced in real life while maintaining a realistic touch. (I.E., giving Axis the ability to manufacture their expensive and complicated tanks, while making sure you don't get a horde of Shermans coming through the hedges.)

Oh, and did I mention the destructible environment? =)

I bought the gold edition that has the original game, operation market garden, and caen.  I haven't noticed any imbalance between the sides but I haven't played the multiplayer game.

The ragdoll physics they use when infantry gets caught in a explosion is fun to watch...  Plus the ability to take over crew served weapons that become abandoned is a nice feature

It's one of the best modern RTS games I've ever played.  I've been playing it since it came out and rarely get tired of it.  There are MP some imbalances, but what game that does haven't duplicate units on each side doesn't?  You guys fly around in AH against planes that may be superior, a lot depends on the player.

Also, some neat promising mods available:
