Photos of the Georgians in Combat against the Russians
« on: September 13, 2008, 03:58:31 PM »
Fyi,

Photos from the conflict in Georgia. Warning, some photos are gory so NSFW.

The site is in Cryillic but, they now have an English opening paragraph. The photos were taken by a Russian Journalist.

Were those T-72 or T-90 tanks? Whatever they were, they sure got destroyed.

I figure they are Georgians. If you look at the last shots under the bridge, they are around Old Ex US 2 1/2 ton trucks and Ex-Nato Land Rovers. Plus the plates on the trucks have the GA marker.

rstel01,

what happened there with the Georgians?  Were they baited by secessionist/Russian interests into attacking, or was it a genuine
case of justified Russian consolidation?

Serious question cause I do not know....

Are the white ones Russians and S. Ossetians?
Asian and Caucasus-looking ones are Georgians?

FWIW, I dont think we need to make a stand in Georgia.  Bad call, I feel it....but I absolutely HATE the idea of tying the USA to Georgia via NATO.

I would rather Russia absorb Georgia back into there tribe (they are blood relatives anyway) then get tangled up in that garbage and end up losing everything.

Seconded.  And to think that on the scale of things, this was a relatively 'small' war...
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

It's a war.  War is disturbing.  We Americans like to think that we can have clean war where we do not have to look at the pictures.

It is part of what is wrong with this country.

Agreed and I've never served.   But from what I've heard from Veterans, it is NEVER pretty.   It's why I shake the hand and says "Thanks" to everyone of them that I meet.

perhaps picture like this need to be posted here more often - its the reality of war...maybe especially all the armchair warriors who insist that we need to add more troops overseas and heck why not start another conflict- should look at these or like these on an hourly basis
