Old WW2 flight sim I used to play
« on: September 15, 2008, 10:44:31 AM »
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away I used to play a WW2 dogfight simulator, and I can't seem to remeber the name of it! I remember it had 4 different sides to play as: American (Yellow), Japanese (Red), Russian (Purple), and German (can't remember color). There were four bases (one for each side), and they were relativley close together for fast, intense dogfights. You had to pay per hour to play, and was world-wide (just like AHII).

I'm sure some of you used to play this game, and if so, what was the name of this sim? I played it when I was 5-6 years old and really enjoyed it, but I can't remember what it as called! Is this sim still out there somewhere? I would like to try it out again.

TY, in advance for any help.  :salute

Thats would have been atleast 11 years ago. So, the game is pretty old.

Possibly Fighter Ace, on the Zone?  Ahh the good old days.

Edit: Possibly not Fighter Ace -- it too was a monthly subscription (for the low, low price of $19.95/month I believe?).  However, everything else you mention smells of Fighter Ace 1.0

He is leaving out the Green with was Britain. Other than that it sounds exactly like Fighter Ace when it was on the Zone.

Fighter Ace had some nice graphics and fun external views.

Hi Latrobe!

Only game I remember that fits that description is Warbirds(which was another Mr. Hitech creation).

When I started playing Warbirds, the only arena with 4 bases was free arena.

Mutley out.

Play Fighter Ace 3. I play it, it's alright. They have this furballing thing that air spawns you, best fights EVER. It beats the crud out of DA and MA just because, the only real restriction is turning radius and speed.  :O

So skill actually matters.

cough cough.. the airspawn arena was a joke . time out your spawn and over half became your victims. FA 1.5 -2.5 was the best.

country colours are wrong for FA .. must be thinking WB.

Man, go take up a P-40B or a P-39D and use all you know to beat the noobs in Hurris. :rock I love doin that. Dont know why you wouldn't.
In my opinion, when the only thing that holds your plane back is turn and engine power, you gotta work twice as hard to obtain kills in planes better than yours.

But opinions are opinions.

I still have the original FA2, and I liked it a lot then. I think it has more planes than the current FA3 :O
