An attempt by the Catholic Church to eliminate the Cathar heresy and its adherents in southern France.  This involved the use of military force as well as the imposition of the Inquisition.  Hundreds of thousands died in the ensuing conflict.  The Cathars were virtually wiped out.

The Cathars disputed the Church's accepted concepts of the nature of God, and believed that Jesus could not have been God in human form because of the inherent evil nature of the flesh, which was part of an evil material world.

Beyond that, I don't remember much.

Origin of the phrase, kill'em all and let God sort'em out. Sorta

"How will we know the heretics?"

"Kill them all, and God shall know his own."

Not my favorite heresy anyway, I like the heresy of Pelagius much better. Although nowhere as well as I like that Real Old-Time religion....

The newest heresy is still the oldest.  "We are our own god."

Oooooo, hubris baby, hubris.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Who initiated the conflict and why.  Also, what came of it, in other words, was there a change brought about by it's occurance that lasted any amount of time.
Thanks.

are you an expert?   I didn't think so, that's why I asked for expert help in this thread.  If someone has studied this thoroughly, I'd like to ask some questions I had after reading up on it. :aok

There's plenty of information on the net to answer any question(s) you might have. Try googling for your specific questions.  :)

For something which purportedly does not exist and in which you do not believe, you bring up the religion quite a bit Skyrock.

It would be like me starting a dozen threads on Chupacabra, the lack of evidence for Chupacabra, making fun of people who believe in Chupacabara, etc.

I begin to think you don't disbelieve in God so much as personally dislike him.
