Seafire LIIc or LIII
« on: September 17, 2008, 04:51:05 AM »
Basically for the same reasons that have been outlined in the He111 thread.

The only scenarios I have seen that included the Seafire they would have been either the LIIc or the LIII.

LIII - Well it was the most produced Seafire of the war, 1263 delivered. Compared to the IIc's 372 delivered.

The final 60 IIc's delivered were actually to LIIc specs - Merlin 32, 4 bladed prop and 12 exhaust stacks. (Nov 42)
The other 312 IIc's were converted to LIIc specs.

So the LIII was actually 4x more common than our current Seafire - 1263 v (372-60) 312

This is why I wanted it too... it was much more common than the Seafire II... plus it entered service near the end of 1943. It's an alright plane for that setting. It wold be our only Spitfire to carry 4 rockets too.

However, given Aces High II's current planeset, it would make more sense to add the He111, some kind of Axis transport (maybe an S.M.) and some updates before a Seafire III.

I thought we had the seafire LIII once or something similar with greater performance than our current one.  This was back when the spit V was given '42 boost settings and was by far the best TnB aircraft in the game.

As far as I am aware only the Seafire model was updated, performance remained the same.

But yup the old cropped impellor Vc was a gem.

Just looking for a more representative version of the Seafire, not neccessarily another one.

Our current one was low in numbers, really only covers late 42 through mid 43.

LIIc would cover late 42 through to the end of the war. (prob best choice and could be clipped)
LIII would cover mid 43 through to the end of the war.

I would 'guess' converting our IIc to an LIIc wouldn't be a big task-
Replace 3 bladed prop with 4 bladed prop.
Replace fishtail exhausts with ejector stacks.
FM change to represent a Merlin 32 in place of the current 45/46.
