The FW190A-8
« on: September 18, 2008, 02:05:23 PM »
Man that FW190A-8 is tight. I fired one cannon round at a b-17 and it was bye bye for the 17, a direct hit on the wing with one cannon round and the wing flys away. I got three kills in 20 cannon rounds. Amazing i think only one problem bout the FW190A-8 is its hard to see in the cockpit.

YEah but with what round did you get this B17 with, and where did you hit him? I suppose a 30mm to the outer wing would do the trick. And I can see fine with the A8.

Too bad we can't change the gun selection. We have to use up those precious 30's with the 20's.
We can only fire the machine guns or both sets of cannons at the same time. SUX! Almost like AW3 when the plane only had one fire button for all amo.
if the BoB is proof the spitty was better, then the Battle of Dieppe is proof the 109 was better.

The multi-cannon Fw 190 series is not linked correctly. The 20mm should be linked to fire with the cowl guns and the 30mm should be the seperate secondary weapon.

The A-8 manual, as well. Not just the 30mm but the outer wing guns.

So i think you're mistaken W09... The 190 is one of the planes in the game with the best view.  Bubble Canopy.

Talen, the forward view in the 190 sucks.  The canopy framing is huge, but it's still better than a 109G-K.

Still, 487 dude hasn't killed with or died in a FW 190 this whole ToD, so I don't know wtf is going on here.

Never assumed your a noob at flying 190s sir... and Gavagai, i'd say they're just about even. I'm able to hit things better in the 109K for some odd reason ( possibly being that i don't shoot beyond 600 yrds with the 30mm. )

With the K-4 you just roll level and watch the bandit do a break turn into your gunsight, time it right, and he's done for.  With the 20mm armed 109s and 190s, you need a short tracking shot to bring down a bandit (usually), and that's when the canopy framing becomes an issue.

The 109 forward canopy is too thick in AH. We've been through it before and photos of actual G/K series cockpits show a much thinner frame.

I also think that the 190 forward cockpit framing is a little bit thick but with the widescreen option available it's not so bad. I find it much easier to keep track of everything in both the 109 and 190 now.

The views are MUCH better in the 190 than the 109, especially the forward view. I hate that bar that sits at the top of the armored glass plate in the 109.
