With D.C. and Guam above, which I suggest we ignore as non-states.  Funny that RI is above it, didn't expect that.

I live in the Peoples Republic of RI. Providence is a sanctuary city, although not official listed as such.  Although the Governor is trying to change it. Free this and that with no questions asked about citizenship. Providence should be renamed North Gautama.

Fortunately I do not live in providence. However Providence is the biggest receiver of State aid. So I get shafted with part of the bill anyway.

per capita & per federal monies taxed, & spent
what states get the most per amount actually collected..in that state
looks like the red teat gets a large workout load.. no matter which chart looked at

how was that the mayors fault?
did you read the whole article - looks like the immigration dept dropped the ball....not the mayors offide

just because the gov threw the mud ball ..doesn't mean it is true... ya know - politics..read the whole story before you decide

Newbie I'll give part of the blame to the feds... However the Providence chief refuses to computerize the verification system. The Mayor could easily have ordered him to use it but he won't.  Just like the Governor has done with the state police.

The governor here in Illinois ordered the bus system in chicago to give free rides to seniors
The mayor said - lotsa money - who is paying for it
the governor said it will work itself out
bus system losing thousands daily
Mayor says -- well ask the gov...  he said it will work itself out
Governor blames the mayor

its easy to blame the mayor - until he needs to say - need to raise the taxes to pay for this computer software system --which will require lots of man hours, need to enter all that data for the last --20 or so years - i would guess-- and of course all the software and support
my guess you would vote against it...
