Autotrim issues
« on: October 04, 1999, 11:40:00 AM »
When flying fighters using autotrim (any flavour) sometimes pops in that hard that the pilot gets a redout.

Sometimes the trim oscillates.

The B-17 seems to refuse to engage autotrim on speed when the vertical trim isn't already set to max upper position.

Overall autotrim seems to change the settings too fast, maybe this should be reduced to some extend (or make it user-defined, fighter-jocks get a fast trim, and buff drivers take a slow trim suited for their slow behaviour   )

There might be some 'bad numbers' in the modeled weight of the planes.

Try this: raise & lower the landing gear while on runway. Repeat, loop, dance:-)

Looks like they weight 1/100th of what they should!

Right Paarma,
We have some "low rider" airplanes in there right now :-) Took a lot of work to make em work that way...
Seriously, as we are aware, this is beta and things like that do happen as far as autotrim goes, the programmer (HT) is aware of the problems and is working on it.
If I can be of any service online look me up or tune to me. My handle is MarkAT and any of the other guys with the AT attached to their handles will be happy to do so too.

As we are aware, this a beta board, and we are reporting bugs whether HTC is working on them or not.  Until they are fixed we will keep posting!

Nah, if I would've been aware that someone is working on the trim already I wouldn't have posted the message - this board contains that much reported errors that it's impossible to follow all reports (at least from the outside  )

Concerning autotrimm:
i changed my keymap. Now the autotrimm speed key switched on autotrimm angle and the autotrimm angle key switched on autotrimm speed.

Oh no, MarkAT:-)

I just tried to point out that

the planes feel a bit underweighted at least in two cases

1. Overly responsive to trim tab settings

Trim settings at least when using auto causes red/black outs.

2. Overly responsive to landing gear movements

It's possible to make a plane, even a B17, to jump around the runway, while standing still, engines off, extending and retracting the gear. Plane looks to be made of foam plastic or something.

And yes, that 'problem', at least what comes to the gear issue, is a minor one. It does not affect the game play at all, and I don't need online support with it:-)

Cya in the friendly beta skies:-)
