Bucky... unlike others I'll give you a semi-intelligent answer only because I like your avatar.

The "I Quit" messages actually started as "Leaving AH" messages. They were originally used by old timers to communicate with other old timers they had met over the years, but rarely saw in the arenas because of time zone differences. Such as I rarely see FiLtH in the arenas, but we have known each other for somewhere in the 10+ year area. Or SoLow, Pack and I have known each other for 12+ years. It was a good way to let them know to contact you by email because you wouldn't be in the game anymore.

Somewhere along the line the "I Quit" message came to be the rage for people who join for 6 months and leave. That's not to say they haven't built some relationships with people online, but there is a major difference in terminology.

"I Quit" denotes frustration with the game or people. "Leaving AH" denotes more of a choice with neutral meaning.

IMHO It's a product of living on the Internet for the ones that feel the need to broadcast their intentions. These are the same kids that would get P.O.'d or hurt feelings and then pick up their ball and threaten to go home.

Eventually those kids could be convinced to stay and play, but you wanted them to stay because they brought something to the table. The Ball.

Now we have all these little "It's my ball" turds flooding the web looking for the same kind of "appreciation" from a peer group. And guess what! This is the part they can't handle.

Listen up little quitters before you post concerning how tragic it will be to lose you from the community.

You brought absolutely nothing to the table. Nothing! So please, show some dignity as you walk away. Just STFU and go.

Well, some people like and are liked by the people they play the game with, it is courtesy to let them know they are leaving and a good way to say goodbye.

But i wouldn't expect you to understand that.

I guess my thoughts are...If you make "good" friends in AH and want to say goodbye then you probably would have their e-mail address at LEAST. (if they are truely good friends) So, send them a e-mail. 99% of the rest of us could give a Sh#t less.

I would suspect that as many have already stated is that most just want to hear people BEG them not to leave. (which is sad)

Just tired of having to sift through 100 useless posts to find ONE worth reading i guess.
