Your take of Aces High.
« on: September 21, 2008, 04:21:52 PM »
For what reason do you fly Aces High? Is it for flying with squadies and having a good time? Is it a place to come home from work and relax?

I play Aces High for flying with squadies from both of my squadrons (364th and JG11) and for the Special Events.

I play for fun. I have an 18 month old little girl, so when I get time to play, it's for fun...

I play because my wife bought me this cool japanese wwii pilot outfit. Soooo before i log on, i put on my "uniform" grab my japanese flag in one hand a glass of saki in the other. I then start screaming all the japanese i know very loudly in quite the menacing tone. At this point the kids start getting scared, which in my mind means im "ready".  I then start my flight, most the time i just get hoed by some niki, in a very
nasty manner i might add, resulting in me throwing the cat across the room, really hard. So take note: when you ho, a cat gets hurt.

so, i just fly for fun and because i hate that cat.

Men evolved to hunt large dangerous game and fight the other tribe. Most of what we do nowadays for a living is rather boring and not satisfying on a primal level. One can derive a measure of the primal thrill of chase, kill, conquest from a game like AH, especially because it is simultaneously so intense, complex, random, and strategic. AH is available 24/7/365 and in all weathers, and thus is more convenient than hunting animals. (Although I always enjoyed the hunt and certainly the eating of delectable flesh, I have always been conflicted, taking no pleasure from the death of a dumb beast who never did me harm. The virtual "death" of a victim in AH though.... :D :aok :devil )

AH is also more convenient and sensible than picking fights in bars to get your primal jollies. One might also say in this way gaming is comparable to porn/masturbation. Not a knock, I'm not about to condemn behavior virtually every male primate engages in.  :rofl

After all, in the modern world we can't all be big-game hunters, professional pugilists, fighter pilots, or SpecOps.

For me, its to let off steam after a bad day at work, meet up with my squaddies (who I love to fly with), and the friends I've made playing this game.

Cant be the value for the price, never mind the fact its as addictive as anything,

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

Hello Subway,

I spend time in this addiction for stress relief & hanging with my good friends on squad vox.  Not to mention that I have always had an interest in WWII history. Please do not tell my wife, as I told her that I really am a pilot trying to save the world! :rofl

I used to play for the enjoyment of learning new planes and tactics then sharing the information with my squad mates. Being able to help one of them become better than they started out always made me happy. Over the last 14 months I also took a special interest in helping them become better at what they do, take bases.

Unfortunately I am now squadless and have been flying in MW mostly. I usually fly for whatever country looks like it could use the most help and spend my time kind of alone looking for bombers, M3's and hordes to bust up. So far, that has been a lot of fun. Some of the guys get slightly upset about it but have explained my reasoning for it fairly well.

I think I named my 1 manned squad "The Low number side" or something to that effect.

Little bit of everything---hangin out with squaddies when they are on, country-mates when they are not, (though flying alone is a different kind of fun), the WW2 thing, (I have zero interest in flying jets/guided missiles, etc, LOVE flyin jug, for better or worse), but MOSTLY I love breaking joysticks, mice and keyboards in fits of rage :aok

I play for fun.

Nothing like bombing a few Wirbles into pixelated oblivion  :devil.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.
