TnB parasitism

Since every sixth post on this BBS talks about how bad it is to bnz, I've decided a little light needs to be shed on a phenomenon that kind of turns the whole argument inside-out. I'm not mad or anything, I couldn't find this whine in the Unabridged Anthology of BBS Whines so I decided that in all fairness it needs to be added to the list. 

That is when you are in something that is fast or at least dives like a brick, you use that speed (possibly converting a great deal of hard-won altitude in the process) to catch that P-51, 190, Typh, etc that has probably been bnzing your people, you close almost to firing range and they finally decide to do something, breaking and jinking like a madman, you close the throttle and begin working for that good close-in kill shot, likely landing pings and doing some damage when *BOOM*-they get annihilated by some Spit, N1K, or other such bird that has "conveniently" shown up to help now that you've run down that fast mover and they can use the ability to cut the corner tighter and heavy cannons to beat you to the punch. I call it t'n'b parasitism, because it depends on someone else flying a faster ride to run down something that would otherwise have disengaged at leisure from the plane (or planes) that ended up getting (stealing?) the kill.

   Normally when Im in a fight on the deck, could be against a guy who wanted to fight, regardless what he was flying, a picker comes along and kills one of us. Depending whether he was friendly of not. And most times its either a typh,p51,190D9. Im not so mad I died, as I often do 2 on 1s and die, but its how the guy whent about it. Hop in the fight..thats fine, but dont snipe at the guy and steal the fruits of anothers labor.

   And if people say "Well Im in a typh what do you want me to do, turn fight?" No...but how about grabbing a plane you feel comfortable in next round and have a go at it?

Filth: I find that most who SUCCESFULLY pick/"steal" that con you were working on in a tight dogfight will not be in a Pony/190/Typh going 450 mph. How the crap are they going to hit two tighter turning planes twisting in a dogfight with any regularity? Nah, more often they'll be shooting over your shoulder in a N1K or something.

Situation I'm describing is one where one "pig" uses his speed to force another "pig" to engage in a good old-fashioned and reasonably fair "pig fight" if you will, only to have a decidedly superior turning plane take the opportunity to get an easy kill on a plane that otherwise it could never have caught. Not saying anything is "right or wrong" in chaotic multi-bandit MA madness, just saying IMHO happens as least as often as the situations where two Spitfires or the like are going around in circles and one gets blown up by a bandit swooping in.

Now don't get the wrong idea, I don't think its a huge problem that keeps me up nights and must be solved at all costs.    I was just trying to describe a phenomenon I find ironic, in light of certain attitudes.  I was also being facetious when I said "TNB parasitism", I don't literally see XYZ plane/pilot as a parasite, my point is that the relationship is more symbiotic than some admit, if that makes sense.

Nice one bnz!   Clearly, what you describe is neither mutualistic nor commensal, but truly parasitic!

Another version is when you run down a bandit, there's always someone in a slower, better turning plane behind ya who's hitched on for the hope of an easy kill (gang-tard).  Without fail, the bandit breaks to spoil your gun solution, and the guy behind you in the Spit16 or N1k gets the cheap kill because you forced the bandit to bleed energy.

There's no doubt that Spit and N1k pilots owe a debt of gratitude to those who man-up and fly something like a P-47 or 190D-9.

seriously, when i get kills stolen from me, it's almost always a high fast plane, drops, or is co-alt and aalmsot supersonic, blasts through our fight, lands kill hits on my bogie, and continues on to safety.
 i also die quite often in that same way.....ewhen the other guys countryman comes in superfast, and steals his kill.

As to myself I dont use commas and other punctuations because like you I dont know where to put them but when I tried to invert your sentence to make sense of it all you lost me with that big word 'phenomenon.' I think you meant to use perspective maybe?

   Ya Ive seen them too...any cannon armed plane is apt to try it. You'd be surprised though how many do it. Im sure they miss alot, trying to hit a guy that sees them coming, but when you are caught hanging on the prop against your opponent, its fairly easy even at 450 to hit the guy.


    I see wgat you are getting at though. And I have to chuckle cause I love catching a picker up high and driving him low into the cauldron of hell below
