Hi
I usually try to stop bombers no matter how high. At 20k it is possible to get a run in on a B 17 without exposing yourself to too much return fire. But at 28-30k it is just about imposible to get a 17 without giving him a great opertunity to bring you down as his wing comes off.
I am willing to make this trade off but I have a question.
The autodirecor on the 17 almost always kills you befor you can bail. So on the screen this usually lists a kill for the buff.
Is this balenced for the scoring system. Does my id ever get credit for killing that buff? The same thing of course happens for HOs.
Is there any way that the loss of a wing would imediatly award a kill to the wing remover...
Some of my fellow rooks love to follow down dewinged planes and try to attrit the dead carcass enough to wrangle a kill that they dont deserv.
Realistically the plane is a kill when it is unrecovorable. It has nothing to do with killing the pilot...
Anyway... I seem to be doing pretty well anyway but I will have to wean myself off of Sturm tactics if I want to get my kill to death improved...
Unless the score page is more generous this way then the text buffer...

Pongo this is where I foget about score and just go on the satisfaction that I know I stopped one of our bases from being hit.  We could all have near perfect scores if we were ultra careful, but what fun is that and what does it accomplish?  Nobody would hunt buffs if they wanted a near perfect score.  I find that I usually get a 2:1 kill ratio when flying a buff, (unless im watching TV and a con sneaks up on me...doh!) but that second person wouldn't have a chance had the first not weakened me up.  You would be amazed at how close some of the fighters get to killing the buff when they die, and it just takes a little more effort to down it.

I try not to look at my score as much as possible.  I find myself not a very big help to my team when I go on score alone, and when im not willing to put my cyber-self in the line of fire for my country!

It was explained to me once that the scoring system attempts to interpet the results of the action and the system awards 'shotdown by" credit based soley on who 'suffers pilot death' or 'bails' first.

This is good.. to a point. Consider the following all too common scenario:

The pilot is still alive; having destroyed an aircraft but from this action got busted up in return, being forced to bail from a severly hurt AC. The pilot bails and while hangin in his chute; realizes he's still quite alive with with the worst yet to come being either a long walk or crummy food to eat for the next year or so.

While he's watchin the enemy buff or fighter; flaming, trailing littles pieces and parts all raining down to the ground he considers how hard he worked to kill it.

Still and all.. he worked that one to a draw anyway and he can consider himself lucky. In the bigger picture; the C47 or buff or pal he's covering is still on his way... he lost his ride; but he's done his bit and is still alive.

He watches the other guy fall and  .. and no chute. The other dude; equally without a ride and dead as as moses to boot got the kill!

Now; in 'real life'; even tho you were shot outta your ride; if yah sent the other guy to the showers while you lived ta tell of the bloody buisness yah got credit right?

Further.. assume both pilots bailed and lived. The firsd guy to bail gets  "shotdown" now.. odd isn't it?  ... seems to me each should get 'shotdown by' system tallys for the other.

Q: Is this a scoring 'bug'; or am I not seeing something I should?

I liked the WB system. If you wait in the tower you got your kill messages. In high alt fights. Ive had as many as 3 cons falling to earth, when i got PK,ed. This has happened several times. And is a source of aggravation.
