Fighter perk points are not working at all
« on: February 06, 2001, 03:44:00 AM »
Fighter perk points are not working at all because ground attacks can give you huge number of fighter perk points.

Example: I take Fw 190A-8 with 500 kg bomb and go leveling enemy factory. I score 40 fighter points after landing. To gain similar number perk points by killing enemy airplanes would require roughly 40 kills which is bit more difficult to accomplish than factory strafing run.

If you can very effectively pad you fighter perk account by killing ground targets, why bother to fly harder or less popular planes? There is no reason at all.

This is why current perk system does not work as it should ie. it does not promote flying of less capable fighters.

It works for bobmers though, I have seen plenty of Ju 88's doing bomb runs, earlier they were almost nonexistent in arena.

Solution: Give fighters different OBJ values ie. 109F-4 with very light armament and one light bomb has OBJ value of 25 while F4U-1C has OBJ value of 10. Also perk points for killing ground targets should be made smaller.

Janjan, I think only ENY values change, OBJ values dont. All fighter from A6M to F4U-1C have OBJ value of 25, Ju 88A-4 has 25, B-26 has 20, B-17 15 and Lancaster III has OBJ value of 10.

That means that for ground pounding purposes F4U scores perk points like A6M but their difference in effectiveness and survivability is really huge. This means that there is no point flying A6M over F4U if you are going to do some groundwork.

And since single ground attack sortie can give you 40 fighter perk points (high fighter OBJ values) while common air to air sortie gives you something like 1 to 5 points its easy to see that ENY values of planes do not have hoped effect since you can fly best plane and get almost none perk points, you just go to factory run and return with huge load of perkies.

But I'm not worried, it will be fixed soon I hope

As I pointed out in the main forum, you CANNOT get 40 perk points attacking a factory with a FW and factories are NOT single buildings you can kill with a 500 kg bomb..

A typical jabo factory attack I've made to get 20-40 perk points consists of no fewer than 12-14 separate attack runs in a P-47 (3 individual bomb runs, 5 rocket runs using two rockets each, and 4-6 strafing runs depending on how efficiently I use my ammo.) Depending on the layout of the factory and how efficient you are, you may be able to get off two or three rocket attacks in one pass and cut the number of attack runs.

This is ignoring the ack. You really need to kill the ack first....either through a ju88 sortie you then bail from, or making two or more jabo sorties in your P47...

yes you can torgo i got 93 jaboing barraks at 26/27 in a p 47 with one rearm. i straffed the acks ded used rockets bombs and 50cal up on killin buildings then rearmed 27 came back did it again until grnt training was totally ded and then i landed changed bases and when in hanger it said last sortie 93.xx fiter perks and fyi i had selected attack. A hvy 47 carries more ord but 30-40 perks in an 190a8 is possible at nme barraks.
its pure bs cause i jaboed 11 vh ded with bombs and rocketed and straffed a fh ded plus got 2 kills and an assist and did not get near even 10 perk points i rtbed safetly as well now one of those killa was a manuvre kill so no points are rewarded for that burt still jaboing/buffing airbases or a2a kills outa be upped in perk value (i think they are good where they are) or drop the value of factory buildings. plus goon driver outa get a little more for his sacrifice. jmho

I can get 30 per run just dropping two eggs from the P-38 and rtb.

Usually 40-50 with a P-47, starting from 12k with full load. 2 1000lbs spaced 3 apart down the middle of one bunch of barracks, the 500 lber in the middle of another bunch, and a salvo of 10 rockets on the last bunch.

It was fun for maybe two or three runs but got boring real quick. Those guys using attack scoring to up their perks points have alot more patience then I do I guess. Alot more fun to make single pass attacks on airfields.
