Death Penalty
« on: October 01, 2008, 04:52:52 PM »
simple enough,

Ho =15 seconds until next avaible time to re-up
crash = 10 seconds
ditch or bail = 5 seconds
bail successfuly = 3 seconds
captured = 8 seconds
landed successful = 0 seconds
Shot down = 13 seconds
(just an example)

we need the importance of living in the game to be more important so you dont have stuff like lancs 2k taking out the CV careless about his life, or Hoers, etc etc

Uh...15 seconds? Are you kidding? That's enough time to run to the kitchen and grab a brew, come back and be ready to play.

The planes will always be infinite and on tap, as they should be, and no possible penalty you could inflict on someone for getting shot down is worse than the fact that the other so-and-so got a kill on you.

BOOO this idea.

More time for a Ho, vs. being captured or killed?

Show me the code that will allow the computers to determine if a death meets a give criteria.

Good luck.

Bailing from multi-engine bomber within 2 minutes of releasing ordinance and no damage to aircraft: 20 minutes.
Ripping wings off in same fashion:  20 minutes

Doing same with enemy aircraft within 15k:  30 minutes

why would you punish for the HO? and if you do HO and you land, then what? and how would the computers be able to tell it was a HO? First of all i like this idea, keeps people to work better, because if there is a penalty, you get scared, and if your scared, your thinking on instinct. For example, in FSO if you die then you are done, this is EXTREMELY nerve racking, and makes me fly more carfully. This is however severe punishment, and in the MAs it should only be about 5 minutes for a death, 0 for a bail, 1 for a capture, 3 for a crash.

The funny thing is that I've seen the OP up an endless number of Il-2s during a field capture operation.  I think he got vulched 12 times in a row, and I was responsible for about half (yes, we got the field, so vulching justified ;)).  Either he suffers multiple personality disorder or has undergone a real change of heart.

If you mean the HO part, the HO definition could be set with an Angle Off parameter in Air Warrior arena settings.  Just sayin.

Sorry, but this failed the logic test. Penalizing a person with a few seconds inactivity for spending 10-15 mins engaged in a meaningless and ill-fated waste of time is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. If time were a real concern to them they'd develop some real skills and learn to actually fight.

How about we give each player a set amount of flying points? Say 100 points. These points are replenished say every hour?
Each time you up it costs 20 points. If you land successfully or ditch you do not lose those points. Die or get captured and you lost the points.
So each player gets to die maybe 5 times in an hour. If you run out of flying points, you cant fly for the remainder of the hour.

This would prevent people from mindlessly fl(d)ying about. <Yeah this means you, you bomb and bail Lancstukas :mad:>
At least this way they would want to stay alive and egress until they reach friendly territory. Would also stop the limitless spawn and drop troop runs when a spawn is very close to the map room.
