Oboe it makes no sense to outline an insignia on the fusalage and not the wings.  I have seen alot of other aircraft with the yellow on the wings.  P-47Ds in England for example.  Until I see some proof I am going to have to call that a 42 on the newly established KBS meter. :lol

Lemme know when you find your documentation.

On it Greebo.

Thanks All.

I absolutely agree it makes no sense; here are the profiles I have seen the lead me to believe the yellow was left off the wing insignias:

However, I found comment in a thread when I did a search on "yellow surround" in the Skinning forum.

According to Air Force Colors Volume 2 ETO & MTO the yellow surrounds were on all 4 stars.  The photos they show, do seem to indicate that as standard.

I do like the look of the yellow surround on all of the insignias better.

I think we've established via photo evidence that you probably can't go wrong no matter what you do on a desert B25 :)

No yellow surround, star and circle on both wings.

No yellow surround, star and circle on one wing

Yellow around the wing star and circle not on the fuselage

Yellow around the fuselage and wing star and circle

Just to add to the confusion and because I didn't notice that the bird with the yellow surround on the wing but not fuselage is the same bird as in the lead of the first photo with star and circle on both wings.

Makes you wonder if it got the yellow and lost one star and circle?

A bit clearer view showing the outline on the wing but not fuselage.  Must have been an ongoing bit to get the yellow on while ops were flown

Bit off topic, but there are bombs slung under wing in the last photos. Is that a standard/factory fitting or a field modificiation?
