Check out that memory carefully. First I have heard of ddr 1000. Usually it's 1066.

I've heard of ddr2 1000mhz.  similar to DDR2 650mhz. I'd recommend the regular increments of 533, 667, 800, 1066, and 1333.  Although at stock speeds it shouldn't matter, if you plan to overclock it may.

I think I would go with 1066. But that is just where my comfort zone is.

I threw it up there because I got the notice in an Email and remembered a couple of folks mentioning they were considering a new build.
Having just been through it. It seemed like a fair deal to me. Though you can add $135 for the operating system.

I have no plans on building another one at the moment for myself. Unless I come across someone else who wants me to put the parts together for them. LOL

There is a common misconception that a memory _rated_ for higher bus speeds would somehow speed up your system.

It doesn't. First of all asynchronous bus speeds (memory running faster than cpu) have proved minimal to no improvement in system speed. Sometimes even slower. Second if you don't tweak bios settings your PC1333 ram will happily crunch at standard 533 speed (depending on your cpu fsb).

What _will_ affect speed however is the latency rating of the memory. The lower latency the faster the ram. Coincidentally lower latency = higher price.

One should note that the speed gains from lower latency is also very marginal - if you put $200 more to cpu or displaycard instead of ram you will get much much higher returns in speed.
