Best to shoot inside 300 yards or closer.

Use the .50 cal's to "range" a target, use page up to get more view for pulling lead shots.
Keep all guns converged at around 300, try setting the cannon at longer ranges.

The Thing i have noticed is no matter what the guns are set to, if you keep a bead on your target for more than 1.5-2 seconds while fireing all guns i would say you have a 60-80% chance of getting 37mm cannon hits on your target.
Most times i get multiple cannon hits on someones ac before they vanish.

Like most things practice makes perfect, and some more food for thought is the fact the germans 30mm ballistic is even worse than the american m4 37mm.

I think the best comparison for a more rapid fireing 610m/s weapon "cannon wise" would be the first zeke.
its guns match closely, so try that plane out for a more "rapid fire" aspect.

When you get good hitting with the relativly yet high rate of fire for the zeke, you may find the 39's 37mm more adaptable.

Its not a spray an pray gun package. Get in close and then do the nasty. P-39Q is a fun little ride, if you spend some time getting to know its quirks.

Thx for tips but there's no way I can hit a target with M4 while pulling Gs.

Don't fly the P39 but with the Yak I don't shoot over 200 unless the timing and position is right. Ideally close well within 200 yards, often you have to fly in a mannor to sucker the target into close range, go for snap shots with a well timed single shot. If the speeds maintain high then fly directly at the plane as if your trying to colide, then try for a single shot again under 200 in range.

The spray them with a MG and then fire a 37mm doesn't work very effectively. By the time u see the hit sprite and fire a 37mm the target has moved. Only occasion it works well as when on dead six, use the MG to make the target break then hit them the 37mm.

Once you get over the mindset from using 50s and 20mm of just spraying down targets at 600 yards. The 37mm is a extremely rewarding gun to use, especially as your timing improves and you can increase angles and ranges pulling off more and more extreme shots.

Come in to the TA and learn to shoot it.

Fire single aimed shots, like a deer rifle. NOT like a water hose.

Setup, unload stick, wait for the perfect shot, fire, repeat.

You have to aim somewhat higher than most cannon packages.

The P-39 tater is a great tater for buff hunting.

It's not exactly your T&B model if you are used to keeping the hammer down for 4 seconds.

You know you can set a "bulls eye" target both offline and online, right? Distance from your aircraft can also be adjusted. Say you want a bulls eye 350 away...the dot command is .target 350
The target will always maintain a position of 360 o

I dont even use the 37mm. I normally shoot them out and use the 4 50cals.

You're having the same problem the Americans did historically. With the advantage that YOUR cannon doesn't jam after 2-3 rounds.
