trim settings
« on: October 04, 2008, 11:45:13 PM »
Been playing for a while using combat trim mostly. Was wondering if one or more of you guys could give some examples of what you are setting your trims at (if using .speedxxx), and when you are applying them. I know it sounds like a stupid question to some of you but I can't seem to get/ keep a plane fast now that i'm using more of the trim settings.

I use CT, and manual trim. Manual trim for when your aircraft gets below about 150 ish or when you get far too fast. Most of the time i have CT on.
Auto-speed, i leave at the default settings (which should be at or close to best sustained climb for your aircraft). I use it for auto-climb to climb out after taking off. I also use it if i need to glide some distance with a dead engine.
Auto-angle, is usefull for holding a set up/down attitude - like diving, or zooming.
Auto-level, i use for cruising straight and level.

The only manual trim I use is in a high speed dive.  If the plane wants to nose up I'll give it some down elevator and if it doesn't want to pull up I'll give it some up elevator.  As soon as feasable afterward I'll toggle combat trim on for a few seconds then toggle it back off.

I use combat trim for the climbout and level flight then toggle it off as I get into a fight.

How do you find out what your aircraft's best sustained climb rate is?
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

I no a few sticks that use manual trim all the time and swear that it gives an advantage.. I have not found that to be true although I have trim tabs mapped and and instant button that turns combat trim off... This will save ur virtual life in a compression :pray  If I never flew the 109 I would probably never use the manual trim.... :rock

I never use combat trim. Though as far as I can tell manual trim doesn't give you any advantage. Just more fun to use.

i wear out my trim buttons. in a fight, my fingers are working trim thru-out the entire fight. they work, they effect the plane..some planes better than others. thats all i'm saying.

Very soon you'll be number one.
Last night i crusified an old believe of mine..
I told everybody that i could fly.
And the whole damn world had thought i lost my mind.
Whats true for you aint true for me.
