I've got the 780i which also supports three way SLI.  I've had my FSB clocked to 1600 without issue.  It's a very nice board.

The only real difference between the 780 and the 790 boards is that the 790's support DDR3 where the 780's only support DDR2.  Otherwise they're pretty much the same.

wow 3- 16x graphic card slots. Most boards come with 2 - 16x and 1- 8x. The cmos reset is awesome too... no more resetting jumper!

I would hold off on getting any new boards until mid to late November.  Intel will be releasing the i7 processor Nehalem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_i7) Pricing will be in line with Core 2 Processors.  Since I have a store and sell mostly high end gaming systems and its components, I would wait wait wait.  If you are looking for a 790i board, Asus whips the eVGA boards in 3Dmark06, Vantage, Pi, etc etc.  Just my thoughts

I heard those Core i7s will be somewhat expensive. Although I think they set some great marks.
