O'Club Changes - Read this!
« on: October 06, 2008, 09:52:31 AM »
Effective immediately, posts about politics, race, and religion are no longer allowed here.  It's been proven time and again that these discussions cannot be kept civil which is why they are verboten on most boards.  It's really something that should have been done from the start but better late than never.

Our moderators have dwindled out over the last couple of years and I'm also looking to jump start that program again with a fresh set of mods and I need some volunteers.  The ideal volunteer is someone who reads a lot but posts little and is not emotionally invested.  If you like to argue and be in the middle of the fray then this is not for you.  Moderators will remain anonymous and will be limited to the O'club.  Please PM me if you are interested.

COMPLETELY DISGUSTED BY THIS PATHETIC CENCORSHIP OF GENENERAL OFF TOPIC CONVERSATIONS.

doesn't the o'club exist for these very topics and discussions??

the worst and most abusive discussions i have seen have all been in regards to in game activity.

now i am certain that some individuals will get out of hand in any discussion regarding religion or politics, but these are discussions of opinion and belief, making them by their very nature argumentative topics.

isn't that the point???? to express yourself and your beliefs, to create a controlled enviorment for these discussions?? if they were unwanted discussion then people wouldn't post in them would they? i read allot of threads and don't post in most of them because its not a conversation i want to have. does that mean that all of those unwanted topics should as well be banned?

this is unwarranted and purely abusive censorship! nothing more nothing less and it serves no purpose to the greater good of the comunity of this board.

your not looking for moderators, your looking for censors. those willing to forceably quiet the opinions of others that they don't agree with because they have no skill or ability to argue their side of a discussion, or because they just don't like the truth as perceived by another and want to silence or destroy it.

then you would cloak them in anonymity????? if they wanna kill a conversation, be a man and openly face the disgust of those who they would silence.

pathetic is as pathetic does.

i feel like i just got picked

Well, I guess the oclub is dead. Long Live the Ocub.

The one place I could go and see spirited debate on all those issues you just named and not see it degenerate into a bunch of cuss words.

So long good bye adios see ya NOT

Its been a wonderful 8 years.

All you whiners out there:

While I may not personally agree with some of the restrictions, I do undrerstand HTC's stance on what they deem appropriate for their games forum boards.  HTC has the right to with-hold, censor, and/or delete anything in these forums that they deem unhealthy for the HTC Game Aces High II and the members of HTC's forums.

It is their board, after all is said and done.  They have a business to run, and don't need to be blind sided by spiteful subscribers making knee-jerk responses to some of these sensitive issue posts.

That's my $0.5 USD on the topic.

but those very subscribers that are paying to be here with those knee-jerk statements are the business of HTC.

if they wanted a game only topic board then they should have kept it that way right from the start. allowing for the expression of personal beliefs on off topic issues has in a sense let the genie out of the bottle. don't allow something and then censor it or disallow it because you don't agree with what others have to say.

This is by no means whining, its a matter of principle.  They provide a forum for off topic discussion yet you cannot discuss anything that is pertinent in to whats going on in the real world?  That is censorship, communism, whatever you want to call it.
So dont provide it, dont give us a place to discuss anything, this BBS is BBS.

Some whining twit got their feelings hurt and now HTC gives in to the real whiner so that nobody can discuss anything pertinent to ADULT discussions.

If what you find offensive at the least, you simply dont have to read it or respond to it.

What a joke this has become and HTC the jokes on you.

Nonesense.  You want to discuss what you want to discuss.  Open your own BBS.  The vast majority of O'Club goings on being absent in the future will make AH BBS a better place.
