Back! Flight sims
« on: October 06, 2008, 01:07:17 PM »
OK!
Thanks to Pyro's new rules, I can read again!

What other ones are out there? I play Wings over Veitnam, Targetware Korea, Strike Fighters Gold, but I really like the F-86. Has anyone played Mig Alley? is it any good? Can you play it over a network?

Have you tried the Falklands 1982 campiagn for Wings Over Vietnam? I can't get it to DL from Combat Ace.

How's the multiplayer?

I have Strike fighters and must say, I have been tempted to get the Israeli one.  The add ons seem bewildering....weapons packs, etc.

I still jump into Falcon Allied Force from time to time, but its a slow learn for a newbie to get into, much less multiplay with me and a few friends.

I just started back on WOV. They finally made a patch that allows me to fly it with Vista. The nw patch isn't out yet for SFP1. I can't get the Falklands scenario to DL from Combat Ace. Did the Checksix file section re-open, or am I thnking of another site?

Shifty,
Never tried the Falklands, but the sim seems great.

As for the network or Internet play, I found a free VPN software called hamachi (spelling) and it works quite well.

Black Shark is the only sim I'm waiting for...  :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZjSI021j-c

Not only the most detailed sim to come out in years but also going back to the days of real manuals with a 550 page flight manual plus a 160 page game manual detaling campigns etc.

Features of the “DCS” include:
• Advanced helicopter and ground force AI that creates a realistic combat environment
• Detailed modeling of 330,000 sq km of the western Caucasus region
• Twice the ground detail of previous TFC/Eagle Dynamics simulations
• Head-to-head and cooperative multiplayer
• Powerful mission editor with advanced scripting capability
• Campaign system with a moving front line that depends on mission results

The first aircraft to be included in the “DCS” world will be the Ka-50 attack helicopter. The Ka-50, like later “DCS” add-on aircraft, will feature:
• Highly-detailed six degrees of freedom cockpit
• Unrivalled flight physics system
• Realistic damage model and system cascade affect
• Mouse-clickable cockpit
• Detailed modeling and control of engine, fuel, hydraulics, electrical, navigation, radio, fire suppression, sensor, and weapon systems (casual game play modes also available)
• Advanced weapon physics for missiles, rockets and cannon rounds including ricochets

Orbiter is way cool. I have been working on the multi player module (a little) I put the jump gate patch (B5) in it and have been jumping around the solar system!

http://www.thunder-works.com/

Currently working in the development of the Jet Thunder: Falklands/Malvinas project, an innovative flight simulator aimed at the entertainment market, showcasing the company's technology in all its branches, fully integrated in a single product:

● Proprietary 3D engine, with accurate terrain system based in SRTM data* and size depending only of storage space

● Proprietary physics system, strongly focused in flight dynamics/flight modeling, but also capable of other applications

● virtual cockpit system technology with complete flight instruments, including HUD and MFD*, and capable of 6DOF and supporting head-tracking devices

● Complete artwork and content creation, with virtual representations of vehicles, enviroments, architecture and characters accurately based in their real-life counterparts

● Artificial Intelligence (AI) routines, able to coordinate attacks, navigate, take-off, land, retreat, etc.

● Client/Server based networking capabilities

● Multi-station vehicles simulation (a bomber plane can have its pilot station, gunner stations, etc, all networked in the same virtual battlefield)
