Why is the attack ranking based on air-to-air kills? Wouldn't it make more sense for the attack ranking to be based on damage points?

Cant say I have noticed.Im having a hard time just to comprehend the Fighter Rank system.

It isn't based on A2A kills.

Then what is it based on? I have caused over 600,000 damage points flying attack missions. Somebody that has flown 5 sorties but has shot down 10 or 15 aircraft during those sorties while having only 15,000 damage points is ranked higher than me.

I think it IS based on kills as well. Same way as I explained that the fighter ranks worked only now there is also the ground damage, just making it more individual skills you are ranked by (10, as opposed to fighter ranks 5.)

On difference in the A/A part of the attack skill however is that the hit% is counted based on hits on both air AND ground targets, hence it's usually higer number than the players fighter hit%. (It's eaiser to hit a hangar with your guns than a manouvering plane).

A2A kills is a major part of the scoring.

I was ranked 8th, took me up a Typhoon and got 8 kills (3 Osties, 5 A2A) and RTB'd. Rank jumped right up to 1st.

It's dropped again since tho....
