Logitech 3D Pro Joystick
« on: October 10, 2008, 03:17:11 AM »
Hi Guys,
I have had to Buy the Logitech 3D Pro Joystick, because Microsoft no longer make the Sidewinder Pro 2 model anymore. (so I was told by the nice man in the shop). Now, although the Logitech is similar to the Pro 2, I find the 3D Pro very sluggish and not as agile. I have lost all the settings I used to fly with a few years back in AH, and try as I might, can`t seem to get all the new setting right. So I am wondering if there are any, kind battle scared warriors out there who fly with this stick could point me in the right direction with regard to setting it up to it`s maximum performance.
I eagerly await any kind of help on offer. :frown:

The Logitech 3D Pro Joystick is not that bad of a stick.

I have been using it for more than a year and a half and used to have a Sidewinder, also.

It takes some getting use to, seems hard to move compared to a Sidewinder. But just like any new stick, it'll just take a week or so to get use to.

Good luck

Better to go on ebay and find a good used Sidewinder.

Logitech has been having quality control issues the last few years.

No help here but I used a MS Sidewinder 3D Pro for 12 years and am now using a Saitek AV8R.  As far as feel and performance go they are almost identical.  We'll see about longevity as I've only had this Saitek for ~4 months.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

I just got rid of my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for a Saitek.  Nothing wrong with it, just wanted the Saitek.  I liked the stick myself, the one thing that did make a difference was stick scaling, other than that, I calibrated before playing every day and loved it.  I find this Saitek a little harder for me to be precise because of the much larger range of motion, but I'll get used to it.

That's a fairly decent stick once you get used to it, I'll pm you if you want to know my old setup, it worked fairly well for me.

I had 2 Logitech 3Ds and both crapped out in short order. The stick still functioned, literally speaking, but it was off-center, the pots spiked horribly (up to 100% with the first input, then back down to 10% where it should be), were quite erratic, and in some space sims just trying to hold the crosshair on a target it jittered all over hell and back, and the ship kept rolling because of rudder input.

Never.... Again....

Get a used MS stick online. You can find them for low cost most of the time and there are many that haven't seen much use (almost new).
