I'm not going.........

...anywhere. (for now anyway, I have 15 days left on this sub.)  The "Ruined" thread was posted on a bad night and listed some things that really do take away from this game.  Things that every player would agree is lame, at least if talked about in person.  The interesting thing is how people responded to it.  I stated several times that one intent was to gauge the feel of some players and what I found was interesting:

As of this moment there are 8 positive, 13 negative and 15 neutral or off-topic responses.

For posting what I felt at the time (which we all have at some point) and listing some items that detract from gameplay and kill the fun (again, which I'm sure we would all agree on in person), I was called or incinuated as beeing a lurker, shade account holder, whiner, drug user, sot, hypocrite, cry baby game ruiner myself as well as beeing analyzed by several AH shrinks and told basically to get the hell out.  The bottom line is that if I met any one person who responded in a bar (if they were old enough to get in ), we would have gotten along just fine and agreed on most things over a beer. 

Most people are more careful what they say in person but feel empowered hiding behind a keyboard thousands of miles away.

Some things are worthy of mention: 

1. The different names I have played under over the years are from taking breaks and re-joining.  The system would not let me use my old name so I was forced to make a new one.  If anyone knows how to re-join with a previously-used name, please clue me in.

2. I mentioned that I am considering hanging up my goggles and helmet to simply say goodby to those I have flown with and had good times with.  I really am considering this and it is not a whine, rant or threat....it's simply a <S> and goodbye.  As stated earlier, my leaving is not going to hurt anything as there will be a new subscriber jump right in my place.  I have very little time to fly anymore and my priorities are just elsewhere now. 

Finally to those who responded in a positive and constructive manor:  Thank you.   You are the rays of light in this otherwise darkening game and I salute you, sirs, each one .

Roundeye did it ever even occur to you to just say something like, "I'm sorry for the "I'm leaving" thread and all the negativity, and all the taking the game to seriously, and I like the game to much to quit"? Or something to that effect? You think the rest of us never stuck our foots in our mouths and said something we didn't mean? Of course we have! Theres nobody perfect here.

But all this posing like the rest of us were rats in your little primate experiment? Whats the point in all that? Nobody cares about the drama.

Its still not to late to just let the thing die out and go on and enjoy the game, and maybe life, while a little bit wiser.

I know I'm done with this. But I'm 50yo and getting the last word in doesn't mean all that much anymore.

A simple click on the thread in question will reveal a large part of the "negativity" came from you.

I never put too much thought in it Roundeye. I've been where you're at for sure. What I thought about the post was that you wanted some other perspectives on game play. I've think it was good of you to post that thread. It did much more good than harm.

Thanks for the level-headed reply, Getback.  I've gotten some PMs that shared the same views.  Some people love to showboat, over-analyze or get offensive on these subjects.   Thankfully there are some true enthusiasts such as yourself in this game.  I salute you, Sir.

I don't know what to call it Roundeye.  Started back in 2004'ish or a bit before big time on the bulletin boards.  A "watch me while I make as much fun as possible out of what so-and-so said and make as much fun of him too" type of, well, vulch. 

Seems for many under a certain age, don't know which age, it's the thing to do.

We used to have an ignore switch on the bulletin boards.  I didn't find it when I looked yesterday.  When I had "ignore" engaged, the BBS was much more enjoyable.
